Immortal Glee

chapter 2

Oh yay, another Monday. Another day full of slushy facials and bruises. I sight as I unlock my locker.

Bang! "Fag!" The jockstraps laugh as they walk away. I sit still for a second so I can catch my breath.

"Are you ok?" I see a pair of sneakers in front of me. "That looks like they pushed you pretty hard." And now there's a hand there too. I look up... And up... And stare at the most handsome man I have ever seen. "Are you ok? Maybe you should go to the nurse's office." That's when I realized I was just starting at him with my mouth hanging open.

"What? Oh! No, I'm fine." I insist as I stand up. Oh he's not as tall as he looked, but then again, I was on the floor.

"Are you sure?" The stranger asks.

"I'm fine." I wave it off. "I'm sorry, where are my manners. I'm Kurt, and you are?..." I trail off as I star at him.

"Um, Alec." He looks a bit awkward now that I look at him. "I'm new here, and it looks like my locker is right next to yours, so.." he shuffles his feet as he looks behind me.

"Oh! Right, sorry!" I say as I step aside. "So what classes do you have?" I ask a bit awkwardly.

"Um. I have Spanish with a Mr.Shuester and..." He fades off as he pulls a schedule out of his pocket.

"Here." I say as I grab it. "Let me look... Oh! We have most of the same classes. Other than Spanish and math. I'm taking French. And I suck at math." I say distractedly. "Do you know where you're classes are?"

"No, I haven't been shown around yet." He says while takeing his schedule back. "Wich way is Mr.Shuesters room?"

"Just follow me, my class is right next door." I say as I start walking. And then I feel a cold splash hitting me in the face. "Really?" I mutter as I try to wipe some of it out of my eyes.

Bang "What the hell man!?" I hear Alec ask. I look up and see that Alec has Karofsky up against the lockers. "Apologize. Now." He was holding him up by his shirt and glaring.

"Alec, it's fine!" I say. "He's not worth it, let's just go." I pull on his arm back twords my locker. I spin in my combination and grab my extra bag of clothes. "Your class is down the hall, make a left and it's the second door on the right." I tell him while heading towards the girls bathroom.

"Where are you going? Isn't the nurse's office that way?" Alec asks as he grabs my arm.

"There's no point in going." I tell him "I'm so used to this now that all that will do is cause more delays in getting to class." I pull my arm out and go into the bathroom. I can practically hear Alec hesitate, but then he surprises me and comes in.

"Does this happen that often?" He asks me with a soft voice.

"Yep." I reply "Not only do I dress better than them, I'm also in the glee club and I'm gay. So..." I say with a self depressed laugh.

"I don't understand." He says as he tilts his head lightly "why don't the teachers do anything."

"Cuz it's not there problem." I laugh bitterly. I turn to look at him "you do realize that I said I'm gay, right?"

"So what?" He says "So am I, I don't see what that has to do with anything."

"Wait, what?" I ask. Did he really just say that!? Is there finally another out gay kid around here.

"What?" Alec looks confused and he shifts self-consciously "why's that so weird? " He rubs the back of his head with his hand.

"No that's not..." My breath hitches "That's not what I meant. I just... I'm the only openly gay kid at this school. So hearing someone just come out and say it is..." Now I'm getting self-conscious.

"No, I get it." He says." I felt that way for a long time, so believe me, I get it." We both kinda laugh a little.

"Ehem, so I'm just gonna..." I say lifting my clothes and nodding twords the bathroom stall.

"Oh, uh, ya. Go ahead." Alec waves a little and shifts awkwardly.

"I'll be done in a minute, I'll take you to your classes after, ok?" I ask mainly because I don't know if he still wants me to.

"Ya." He says and grins at me.

This looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I muse to myself.
