"Wow, Nat! That was really cool. I didn't believe for one second that you could do something like that but you totally surprised me."
She giggled. "Hey, he was annoying you, and that annoyed me as well. So I just told him off."
Britannie just rolled her eyes at us. "I can't believe you. How would you do such a thing like that? Don't you know how popular you can get by associating with Aaron and annoying Loren at the same time?"
"Well, I don't want to annoy Loren, and I would rather puke before I go out with Aaron." I shuddered.
Britannie shook her head at me. "Your loss." Then she walked away.
I turned to Natalie. "What is up with her?" She just shrugged.
After a few moments of silence, she spoke up.
"Look, I'm sorry for what I did that day." She sighed and continued. "I know I was being a jerk for getting worked up over Mr. Fairhall catching us, and we didn't even get punished, but I felt so annoyed that day. But that want any reason for me to act out on you. And I'm sorry." She smiled hopefully at me. "Friends?"
I just gave her a hug. "Friends. And I forgave you anyway. My mom always says not to put a blame on others and try to give them the benefit of the doubt. And that's what I did for you."
She grinned. "Aww, thanks. I didn't know you were the kind of girl who listened to her Mom."
I playfully shoved her. "Not all the time." I laughed. "I'm a teeny tiny bit of a rebel."
And that's how we kept bickering until we got to Mrs Decker's classroom.
The warning bell rang. "Bye, I'll see you after school!" She waved and quickly ran to her locker. I got my books and quickly rushed off to class. After the info Brit told me, sitting next to Nelson was going to be really awkward.
"The class went by fairly quickly, and I noticed the occasional glances from Nelson but didn't say anything. It would just be weird, and even if I said something he would probably just ignore me or I'll get detention for talking in class. Mrs Decker can be nice but she's super firm too.Soon the school day was over and I quickly made my way to the cheerleading practice room. I got there just as it was 4:00. Bianca and a few girls were stretching and the rest were just fooling around, including Loren. I quickly joined Bianca and her group. There was no way I was going to give up my spot on the Cheerleading team for a bit of fun. And especially not when Loren was there.
A few minutes later, Bianca assembled all of us. And made of go through a few drills. I aced them all. I also caught Loren giving me the stinkeye, but I didn't care. My total focus was just on trying to be one of the best on the team.
"Listen up girls!" Everyone stopped talking immediately. "The big game is this Friday, and I want you all warmed up for it. Or else. Everyone must get all the steps right. Because we can't look like fools on the day, right?!"
Some of the girls just rolled their eyes.
"RIGHT?!"
Some murmurs went around the room in agreement, and Bianca had this satisfied look on her face."
"Good. Now let's continue practicing!" Everyone groaned. "Chop, chop, get to it!"
"Actually Bianca, I'll have to use the restroom, like, now."
She dismissed me with a wave of her hand. "Don't stay too long."
In the bathroom I closed one of the stalls and started singing Friends by Anne-Marie and Marshmallo. That's like, my all time favorite song.
I heard a tap running and I immediately stopped singing. How long had that person been there?
The person knocked on my stall door. OMG. Who the heck was there? I opened the door.
"So I heard you singing, and... I think Miranda was wrong about you." I recognized her from Music. I think her name was Ashley or something. I'm not really sure.
"Yeah, whatever." I rolled my eyes. "She made her choice, and I'm not going back there."
"Please, just this one last time and I promise to not disturb you again. " Then she gave me the weirdest puppy face ever. Just to get her to stop, I caved in.
"Ugh, fine. But don't disturb me again if I don't get a chance. Or spot."
She nodded enthusiastically. "Ok!"
I exited the bathroom before her. Bianca was waiting outside the door for me. " I heard you talking in there. What was that all about?"
"Oh, it's nothing." I replied.
"Ok, whatever. Let's get back to the training room."
As we walked away, I looked over my shoulder to see Ashley staring at me. She gave me a meaningful look before she walked away. I sighed internally. This was going to be a long school year.
