This is my favorite song right now. I love The Greatest Showman.
Tamara had left, saying she expected to have Malia come to the pack house in Jeremy's territory to get a full checkup. A lot had changed since Malia disappeared and they knew that after today, this changed everything. It was rare for a werewolf male to have a daughter but somehow Daniel gave birth to a beautiful baby girl when they weren't expecting a kid at the time. It was rare, but it happened every once in every few years for a female to be born. It was impossible for a female to transform into a wolf but somehow Malia did it. It wasn't that women can't handle the shift, it just never happened. Malia was breaking barriers and changing history without realizing it.
The first night was going to be a long night of discussions and opinions between Jeremy's pack and Jackson's pack. All the men were trying to find a way to make sure she got the best care to help her get better and make sure she transitioned smoothly. After the incident so many years ago, they thought that, like Maya and Daniel, she had died. It was hard to accept because no body could find her body to prove that she had died, allowing them to never get answers and closure. Jackson had taken over the pack as the Alpha which was rightfully his position since birth. All the elders in the pack had passed away either from defending the pack or from wounds that were untreatable, leaving sixteen men, who were all young when it happened. All the females and younger children passed away. The pack of rogues had gone wild and killed without no remorse. The only people who survived were sixteen young men who had stayed fighting long enough for reinforcements from Jeremy's pack to assist. All the men had gone through rigorous warrior training, some were ex-military and others went off to school. There were four doctors, six firefighters, and six police officers. Jackson had become an owner for a private security company that did side jobs occasionally. All the men lived around the territory but generally, their careers led them to having no life outside of work. Most barely stayed home.
Jeremy had a bigger pack leading to a completely different system of how things were run. There were up to roughly five hundred members, with one hundred twenty-three in the area while the rest were all over the United States of America. Some went to college, some were traveling the world, while others decided to live their own lives. Jeremy was a well-respected Alpha who gave his people whatever they wanted with a reasonable description. He wanted to care for his people and show that he trusted them. If they wanted to go live somewhere else, his only conditions were that they would have to call or email occasionally, and if there was a pack emergency then they were required to come home.
The day that the memorial was held was the saddest day for both packs. Jackson's pack had mourned for the loved ones who died protecting those who were innocent. Two hundred and fifty-three people had died that day, nearly wiping out a whole pack. The memorial was filled with grief and sadness. It was especially sad for Mason and Jackson who lost both parents and a sister. Malia was a friend, sister, and daughter to most of the pack. Those who knew her loved her child-like behavior and her innocence. It was rare to see a little girl amongst a pack, so the sight always brought happiness. People adored her for bringing out happiness and laughter every time she was around. She was loved by both packs and when people assumed she passed away, they felt saddened that someone so young and innocent didn't have a chance to live a full life.
Jeremy trusted Mason and Jackson with Malia, they would give their lives to protect her. He just wanted to make sure she had everything she needed. Jackson's pack had people who worked odd hours and Jeremy wanted her to have people there all the time in case she needed it. Mason, Cole, Jensen, Mac, Tyler, Jeremy, and Tyler were sitting around the kitchen. Mason looked at Jeremy and spoke, "I understand that my job is going to cause problems, but you need to understand, I will do anything for her. If I need to quit my career to be by her side, you know I will. I will cut down the hours. Now that I know someone depends on me, I will be there. I will give a 100%. She is my sister and I can't give up on her again." Mason was the only one who had believed for years that she was still alive, it was just last year that he gave up hope and decided she was never coming back. He had moved on and now he felt guilty. Jeremy looked at both Cole and Mason who were staring at him, waiting for a response. He knitted his eyebrows together, which was showing that he was deep in thought, contemplating the possibilities. He sighed and spoke, "Mason, you have to understand that this isn't just some puppy? She is a human being. Malia has been through hell. More than likely, she is going to get way worse before she gets better. Do you want to take on that responsibility? Do you understand what it means to be there for her?" Mason was about to speak but Jensen stood up from the bar stool and said, "Mason doesn't have to worry. He has us and we will be more than willing to help. You know Mom isn't going to leave now, right Mason? We aren't going anywhere." Mason and Cole both nodded. Jeremy looked at all of them and sighed. He leaned against the counter and said, "you need to speak to Jackson. I know she is in good hands and you know, I am not leaving my niece either. We can get through this as a family."
