After the inauguration, Donald hurried into his new home, Mike trailing closely behind. They were so excited to make America great again, just as they promised during the campaign. On the way to the Oval Office, they passed the kitchen. Melania was in there searching through the refrigerator. She pulled out a rather large bottle of wine and tried to stuff it in her tiny clutch. Donald continued by and entered his new office.
"Mikey, close the doors," Donald said, and Mike did as he was told. Mike turned towards his new president and smiled warmly. Donald returned the smile. For a moment, theme stopped and they just stared at each other, smiling. Then a knock at the door broke the moment. A second later, Karen Pence opened the door and peeked her head in.
"Mr. President, I'm sorry to disturb, but I would like to congratulate yo-"
"Mother, go away!" Mike snapped at Karen. With fear in her eyes, Karen quickly shut the door. "I'm so sorry about her, Donny," Mike said to Donald. Donald smiled at him.
"That's alright, Mike," Donald said. He looked around the office then realized what was missing. "You know what this office needs, Mikey? A microwave, so I can heat up my KFC. Oh! And a mini fridge for my Diet Cokes!" Mike nodded. Suddenly, Donald felt like a kid again. He was so giddy today, he could jump on the couch. "Mikey, let's jump on the couch!"
"Oh, Donny! You're such a sillykins!" Mike responded with a laugh. Donald laughed along with him. This was their day, and they were enjoying it a lot. "Donny, I just had an idea! Go sit behind the desk, I'll take a picture of you!" Donald quickly got up in excitement and sat in his chair. Mike took out his phone and Donald did a few poses. Mike ran over to show Donald the shaky photos, and Donald grinned ear-to-ear.
"You make everything so much better, Mikey," Donald smiled adoringly at his Vice President. Mike smiled back, enjoying these small yet tender moments he shares with the President. Again, someone came knocking at the office's door. Donald rolled his eyes. "What?" He shouted at the door, clearly annoyed.
"Mr. President? It's Kellyann Conway, just wanted to go over a few things," she said through the door. Glad it wasn't stupid Karen again, Donald got up and opened the door for Kellyann. She entered and sat on the couch, and Donald sat in the one across from her.
"What do you want?" Donald said.
"Well I just wanted to confirm that your children will be living here and Melania will stay in New York until the end of June?" She asked.
"Yes, why is this important?" Donald replied.
Ignoring him, Kellyann continued with her questions. "You'll sign the travel ban next week, correct?"
"Yes, yes, we went over this! Now why are you really here?" Donald asked. Kellyann sighed, closed her folder, and took off her reading glasses.
"Well, Donny." Donald hated the nickname on Kellyann's tongue. That was the nickname from Mike, no one else was supposed to use it! "This is the first time we've been alone in months, and I was hoping to give you a little congratulatory gift." Mike gagged from behind the couch. Donald's eyes widened in shock.
"Why would I ever want to have sex with you, you dirty, used, old leather handbag!" Donald exclaimed. Mike laughed as Kellyann ran out of the room.
"Good one, Donny!" Mike high-fived Donald. As their hands touched, Donald had the urge to grab a hold of Mike's hand. Mike sat down on the couch previously occupied by Kellyann and he put up his feet. Mike loosened his tie and leaned his head back and closed his eyes. Before Donald had a chance to savor the sight, Mike said, "This is it, Donny. The moment we've been waiting for."
Donald smiled at his white-haired friend. "It is. I'm glad we're here."
"I'm glad you brought me here. This is our country now. Our America." Donald, now mirroring Mike's position on his couch, imagined the next eight years that he hoped for. Of course, he imagined himself completing two terms with Mike by his side the whole time. They would ruin the lives of people that didn't matter to him and make themselves and their friends (except that handbag) richer. Donald smiled at the thought. He loved the idea of spending so much time with Mike. Maybe he would have to see if he could request room in the White House for Mike and maybe his family. The thought of stupid Karen made Donald frown, though. She always found a way to ruin Donald's special friendship moments with Mike.
"Penny for your thoughts," Donald heard Mike's melodic, monotone voice say.
"Oh, it's nothing important, Mikey." Donald opened his eyes to see Mike looking at him. Mike propped up on one elbow and faced his companion.
"You know you can tell me anything, Donny," Mike said. Donald sighed. He didn't know how Mike would react to the news that his wife's annoying.
"Well, Mikey, it's just that Karen annoys the hell out of me," Donald confessed. Mike sighed and laid back down.
"Oh tell me about it. At least you don't have to live with her," Mike said, which made Donald laugh. Maybe Mike can leave Karen and the rest of his family back at home when he moves in with Donald. They closed their eyes again sat in silence for a while, listening to the traffic outside, each other's breathing, the soft hum of the heat kicking on, the people moving outside of the office doors. Donald opened his eyes and turned his head towards Mike. He studied each wrinkle that graced Mike's face and admired his features. Donald had to admit; his friend was handsome. Mike opened his pale eyes and gave a closed-mouth smile to his best friend. Donald blushed in embarrassment because he was caught staring. Just when Mike opened his mouth, there was another annoying knock on the door.
"Mr. President? Mr. Pence? It's time to get ready for the celebration tonight," someone said on the other side of the door. Donald huffed in annoyance.
"Can't I just wear what I have on?" Donald called to the person on the other side of the door.
"No, sir. Your wife laid out an outfit for you and she would like you to wear it," the person responded. Donald huffed again.
"Okay, be right out," Donald shouted. The person walked away and Mike and Donald got up.
"I've enjoyed today, Donny. I like spending time with you," Mike said sincerely.
"I feel the same way," Donald smiled. Donald opened the door and both men exited the Oval Office together.
