"You know how to set up a tent right?" I asked Haruhi as I looked down at the pile of camping gear.
Haruhi had gently woken me up from my restless sleep. She and Ranka had unloaded the car and almost as soon as I had woken up and got out of the car, Ranka was driving out of the campsite, probably to work. Haruhi had explained to me that after mom had died, Ranka had refused to love any other woman other than her mom and had become a transvestite. She had also mentioned that he was working at a transvestite bar. I guess it was a little odd to come back to - your dad being a woman.
"Yes, I know how to set up a tent." Haruhi replied as she dug in the pile for the tent and began pulling it out of it's bag.
"Do you need any help?" I asked, but the girl shook her head no. I figured we had the same thing in common; our stubbornness and wanting things to be done alone.
"Well, alright..." I shrugged and began pulling the cooler out of the pile. "I might as well start the fire."
As soon I had gotten a few sticks to roast hot dogs for tonight's dinner and started the fire, Haruhi was done setting up the tent. "Hey, Haruhi!" I said. My attention was on the fire and I hadn't noticed the tent. Turning around to ask if she wanted to roast hot dogs now, my mouth opened in shock at the size of the tent. "Whoa."
"What?" Haruhi asked as she looked at my expression and the large tent set up behind her. It had only taken her ten minutes to set up that?!
The tent was massive. I figured it could fit at least fit twelve people. Opening the zipper, I walked inside. I could stand without having to bend. It felt like I was in a house rather than a tent. There were two zippered sides.
"That side of there," Haruhi pointed to the left side and then the right. They were both zipped off smaller sections of the tent. "It's just for one person to sleep." She opened her arms, gesturing to very large middle space. "And this space is for many. I don't know why we bought such a big tent when it's just us two."
I let out a small laugh. "It's spacey, I like it. Now, are you hungry?"
Haruhi nodded as her stomach growled.
We both exited the tent and Haruhi zipped it up as I fixed a hot dog on each of the sticks. After letting mine burn in the fire for a minute or two, I slapped in in a hot dog bun.
"Do you think it's going to ran?" Haruhi asked as she looked up from her perfectly cooked hot dog.
I looked up at the sky. It was getting pretty dark now, but I could see the clouds rolling in. "Mm, maybe. We should put the things underneath the picnic table and our bags in the tent."
Haruhi nodded in agreement as I scarfed down my hot dog and began pushing the cooler underneath the table. Once she was finished eating, she helped me place our bags on the right side of the tent, in the zipped off room. Just as we were unpacking our blankets, the rain started to pour.
Letting out a laugh, I looked over at her. "We were lucky."
"Yes," she nodded with a small smile, although I could see it was forced. Was something wrong?
"Are you okay, Haruhi?" I asked as I finished making my bed. I placed my pillow neatly down.
"Yes, I'm fine," she said as she shot my another smile.
Just than there was a loud bang as thunder shook the tent. We both jumped, but Haruhi dove under her blankets.
"Haruhi, are you okay?" I asked. As the sky lit up as lightning streaked the sky.
"Y-yes, I'm fine!" She whimpered. Then it dawned on me. My sister was afraid of thunder, probably as much as I was of heights.
"Here," I said as I zipped open the right room of the tent and dug in my bag. It only took me a second to find my iPod. Quickly, I searched through my playlists and clicked on the proper one. "This should help," I said as I handed it to her. "It always helps me when I'm near any thing high."
Peering out from under her blanket, she gratefully took my iPod from me and quickly put on the headphones. I could see her relax as the beautiful music filled her ears.
"Haruhi!" Someone called from outside as thunder shook once more.
"What?" I wondered to myself. Who was outside. "Who's there?" I called.
"It's Daddy!" The person called. By the sound of his voice, I guess it was a boy.
"Shut up, boss!" Two other voices yelled in unison.
"Is Haru-chan in there?" A very cheerful voice sounded nearby. How many people were out there?
"Who wants to know?" I asked.
"We're friends of Miss Fujioka." This voice sounded at the door of the tent. He seemed much calmer than the rest.
"Haruhi! It's Daddy! I'm here! You don't have to worry about the thunder!" The boy unzipped the tent and jumped inside. Haruhi peeked her head out from the blankets, her eyes widening with surprise.
"Senpai? What are you doing here?" She asked and she watched as a group of guys filed into the tent. Standing at the door.
"This is some tent!" The youngest looking one said with wide-eyes. He looked down at the stuffed bunny he was holding. "Usa-chan, I've never been in a tent before!"
"What are all of you guys doing here?" Haruhi asked and flinched as the thunder continued to roar.
The one who referred to himself as 'Daddy' settled down beside Haruhi and placed and arm around her. His voice was gentle as he spoke, "Why do you think?"
"We heard there was going to be a thunderstorm," I looked up as one of the twins spoke. "When we went to your house, Ranka was just leaving and said you were camping here." The other twin finished off his brother's sentence.
"T-thank you," Haruhi whispered with a smile.
"Who are you?" I asked. "You seem to know Haruhi."
"We're members of the Host Club!" The blonde at Haruhi's high shot me a charming smile.
"A host club? What's that?"
"It's a club these guys run to service girls," Haruhi explained.
I still didn't understand. "But you are you?"
"Excuse me for not introducing ourselves," the taller black haired boy spoke as he fixed his glasses. "I am Kyoya Ootori. That idiot over there," he gestured to the boy beside Haruhi, "is Tamaki Suoh."
Tamaki winked in my direction, but I simply rolled my eyes. Kyoya seemed amused by my actions as he continued. "These two over here are Hikaru and Kaouri Hitachiin. As you can probably tell, they're twins."
The twins wrapped an arm around the other's shoulder and grinned mischievously.
"And these two," he gestured to the younger looking boy and the taller one next to him. "Are Mitsukuni Haninozuka and Takashi Morinozuka."
"Honey-senpai and Mori-senpai, you're even here?" Haruhi asked with surprise.
"Of course, Haru-chan!" Mitsukuni grinned. "You can call me Honey-senpai too,-" he stopped himself as he brought a finger to his chin in thought. "What's your name?"
I let out a small laugh. "I'm Alexandra Fujioka."
"It's a pleasure to meet you Alexandra," the twins bowed and than instantly stood up. "Wait, did you say 'Fujioka'?"
I nodded.
All six boys turned to look at Haruhi who was cowering from the storm.
"Leave her be," I said. "Tamaki, you can take her in there if you want." I said as I pointed to the unoccupied room on the left side of the tent. "Haruhi said it's for one person, but I'm sure you two can fit. Than I'll be able to explain myself."
Nodding, Tamaki scooped up Haruhi in his arms and managed to unzip that part of the tent. I handed him Haruhi's blankets as he made her bed.
"Well," Kyoya said. "Care to explain your relation to Haruhi?"
I nodded. "I'm her sister, Alexandra."
"What?!"
"Don't worry, she wasn't hiding it from you. She had no idea. I just arrived in Japan earlier today." I explained. "I lived in Canada for most of my life."
After a lot of questions from the Host Club members, I ended up explaining my whole story.
