Dan's P.O.V
We walked into the gymnasium and saw that almost everyone was there. 'Athletics again.' Billy groaned. 'Fuck!' Owen mumbled. ‘It’s good to have you back, Owen!’ Mason said as he patted Owen’s shoulder. Owen stared confused at Mason, while Billy, Parker and I were laughing out loud.
I rubbed in my eyes, because they were still burning like this morning. 'What the hell is going on there?' Mason asked us all, pointing at where Mrs. Wellens and a few girls were standing.
'Julie, I want you to take off those bracelets!' Mrs. Wellens said angrily. Julie crossed her arms in front of her chest. 'No, I’ve always wore them. Why can’t I wear them now?' she said stubbornly. 'Do you want me to send you to the principal?' Wellens said firm. 'This is complete crap! How can I hurt myself with a damn bracelet?' She shouted angrily, causing to gets everyone's attention. I looked at her wrists and saw different kinds of bracelets in the shapes of swords. She glared at Wellens for a moment and then walked away, being followed by her friends.
We were standing in lines, waiting for our turn to do the Somersault. 'I'm so done with the Somersault. I can't do it.' Owen yelled frustrated. He turned his gaze at me. 'How do you do that?' He asked in the hope for tips. 'I don't know. I just do it.' I said casually.
'It's Julie's turn.' Billy said poking me. I shrugged my shoulders. ‘So what?’ I asked him, but he already ignored me. I sighed out of irritation.
Julie waited for Wellens' signal. 'Go!' Julie started to run. Her long, brown hair was tied up in a ponytail that swung behind her. She jumped into the trampoline and made an elegant Somersault. She had her arms horizontal and landed on both her feet with a big smile on her face.
'Very well, Julie!' Wellens complimented her. Julie' face straightened again. Her eyes were emotionless. She walked around the gym matt and walked towards the line. As she was walking, I caught her looking at me.
We practiced the Somersault for another 30 minutes. When we were done, Mrs. Wellens asked us to set up the material for basketball.
'Choose a partner!' Wellens said. I got immediately attacked by Owen, Billy, Parker and Mason. I sighed. 'Boys and girls together. Girls, pick a boy!' Wellens shouted.
I looked around and saw that the girls were picking boys to partner up with. 'Dan?' I felt that someone was tucking the back of my shirt. I turned around and saw that Julie was the one. 'Want to partner up?' I raised an eyebrow. 'Sure.' I said, feeling uneasy.
We were order to throw the ball at each other. A simple thing. 'How are you doing now?' Julie suddenly asked. 'What do you mean with 'now'?' She chuckled and threw the ball towards me. 'You had been in the hospital a year ago.'
I widened my eyes. No one knew about that. I had passed out during a basketball match a year ago. It turned out that my heart can have some troubles. I never really know what it is, but the doctors said that is wasn't life threatening.
I walked up to Julie and grabbed her arm. 'How the hell do you know that?' Her eyes were looking at mine's with the same emotionless look in them. 'I was there.' I raised an eyebrow. 'Why were you the-' I got interrupted by Wellens. 'Julie and Dan! Are you going to basketball or are you guys having a tea party. Julie made a 'tch' sound as she rolled her eyes.
I turned around and took my place. I was about to throw the ball, but I heard the sound of glass breaking. I turned around and saw that the windows were broken. They were broken by 15 blue, fuzzy, animal-like things with black eyes that were full of anger. They had sharp teeth that easily could rip your skin off. They were monsters.
The girls started to scream and the boys were frozen on their places. ‘You motherfucking things!’ I heard Julie say. ‘What?’ I said out of confusing. ‘EVERYONE, GET DOWN!’ She yelled. I dropped myself to the ground and covered my head with my hands. ‘Kaya, you take the right. The left is my side!’ She said coolly and she walked past me. ‘Requip!’ They both yelled as they slammed their fists in their palms.
Julie wore a black tank top and a grey skinny jean. She had a black armor on her shoulders, arms and legs. She grabbed one of her bracelets and lifted it up in the air. I ask you to awaken, Sword of Iron, Ferrum! There came a bright, black light from her side. The light disappeared and I saw that Julie was standing with a large, black sword in her hands.
I looked over at Kaya who was wearing a grey tank top and a black skinny jean. Her shoulders, arms and legs were covered in the exact same armor as Julie's but in a grey color. She had the same bracelets like Julie, but in shapes of guns, spears and knives. ‘I ask you to awaken, Knives of Copper, Cuprum!’A bright, red light appeared and she was holding ten red knifes, five in each hand.
Julie and Kaya leaned with their backs to each other. ‘Ready?’ Julie asked. ‘Absolutely!’ Kaya yelled enthusiastic. ‘3, 2, 1… Fight!’ They yelled and ran forward to the monster that lay ahead of them.
Julie ran forwards and slayed two monsters at the same time. She got attacked by three of them. She raised her sword with two hands in the air. She exclaimed, ‘Duplicatam!’ and the bright light appeared again.
When the light had settled down again, I saw that she had two swords that were just like the first one. She spun around, slashing three of the monsters into pieces. There was only one monster left. She turned around and looked them in the eyes with an evil glare. The monster looked frightened, because it was shaking and ran away.
‘Tch, get the fuck back here!’ Julie said and she started to chase after the monster. She easily caught up with it. ‘Gotcha!’ She smirked and slayed it by piercing the swords through the monster’s body.
In the meantime, Kaya was having a harder time. She was throwing knives at the 9 monsters that were standing in front of her. They kept dodging it. ‘You fuckers!’ she shouted angrily.
She gathered her knives and raised them in the air. ‘Cuprum, Knives of Copper, you are allowed to rest.’The same red light appeared again and disappeared again, along with the knives. She grabbed one of the bracelets in the shape of two guns. ‘I ask you to awaken, Guns of Holy Silver, Sancta Argentum!’ Kaya was holding two guns.
‘I’ve had it with you Eaters!’ She roared as she shot 7 monsters. The remaining two monsters were trying to get away, but Kaya knocked them out by kicking one of the monsters against the other. They dropped on the floor. ‘Stay still,’ she said as she placed her feet on the arms of the monsters. ‘I want to blow out your tiny brains.’ She aimed the guns between the eyes of both of the monsters and pulled the trigger. The bodies of the monsters disappeared.
Kaya felt to her knees and grabbed her forehead. ‘Kaya,’ Julie yelled while running to her. ‘Are you okay?’ Kaya smiled. ‘I’m fine. Fighting with a headache isn’t the smartest thing to do.’
The girls stopped laughing and looked over at me, then at my classmates. ‘It happened again,’ Julie sighed. ‘Stay here, I’ll take care of this.’ She stood up and walked over to me.
‘Are you okay? Did you get hurt?’ She asked worried, yet emotionless. I stood up, feeling my knees were shaking as hell. ‘Why do you only ask me?’ I asked suspicious. She sighed. ‘Can you just answer me?’ She asked annoyed. ‘Yes, I’m fine,’ I said emotionless.
‘What the hell were those things?’ Julie simply ignored me. She grabbed my face with one hand and looked into my eyes. ‘Kaya! Get over here!’ Kaya ran over to me and Julie. ‘Did something happen to him?’ she asked worried. ‘Look at his eyes.’ She said serious. ‘He’s been awaken. That shouldn’t have happened yet.’ I looked at both of them. I seriously had no idea what was going on.
‘Kaya, get the equipment and take care of the rest of the class. I‘ll take care of Dan.’ She said. ‘Why do you take care of me?’ He asked confused.
Suddenly she grabbed my shoulders. ‘What are you doing?’ I asked, feeling uncomfortable. ‘I’m sorry.’ she said, still ignoring me. ‘What are you apologizing for?’ I asked confused. ‘For this!’ She said and slammed her knee into my stomach with great impact. I fell to the ground and everything turned black.
