"Corbyn Besson down to the principal's office immediately." The intercom boomed through the large spacious school room. Corbyn sat up with wide eyes.

"Oooh! Look! Corbyn's in trouble!" One kid a few seats behind him shouted. He set his pencil down and slowly headed out the classroom door. He clutched his arm in worry as his squeaky shoes shuffled down the hallway. He had no idea what he was being called down for, and was worried out of his mind. He entered the office that connected to the principal's with fear obvious in his eyes. He knocked on the door that lead him into the small office that belonged to the principal, waiting for her to call him in.

"Come in." Her loud voice echoed. Corbyn opened the door and closed it behind him before his legs shuffled him to the table. He noticed a man sitting next to the principal, but didn't say a word.

"Mr.Besson we have called you in to deliver some exciting news." She smiled. Corbyn's heart pounded faster than it was before.

"You have earned yourself a scholarship to Kansas University from playing golf AND from playing the trumpet in competitions. We are very impressed with your work and we'd love for you to come on down to good ol' Kansas and check out the campus." The man said with a grin. Corbyn smiled, but shock filled his insides.

"I'd love to sir." He replied.

"I will pay for the plane ticket. The flight leaves Monday, so I hope you are ready. Talk to your parents and get back to me with this number before Monday." The man said, slipping a business card into his hand.

"Thank you so much sir." Corbyn squeaked.

"No problem kid. You have the potential to be something great and we'd love to see what you can do. You can go back to class now." He dismissed Corbyn and the young boy left the office without hesitation.

Corbyn shuffled back to class, but this time, with a smile on his face.

Corbyn laid awake that night, thinking about how he was going to convince his parents on letting him attend KU. His parents had always said to go to Kentucky State or a community college in the area, and we're always iffy on the idea of him leaving.

"Mom, mom, I have some crazy news." Corbyn said as he sat his two moms down at the table.

"Yes honey? What is it?" His mother named Ivy asked.

"Well, I was given a scholarship to KU today, and I really want to go. I know you don't want me going far away for college, but I really want to go. I've heard they have a really great education system." Corbyn said. He looked at his mothers to see them looking at each other as if they were having a conversation through eye contact.

"When is the campus tour?" His other mom, Rosemary, asked.

"It's on Monday. They said that my plane ticket was already covered." Corbyn added. His parents went back to having an eye contact conversation.

"Okay fine. You can go. Just please be careful. You know you're the only man we got in our lives." Rosemary said with a smile. Everyone laughed at her joke and Corbyn nodded.

"I will momma, I will."
