Chapter Five
Surprises
Emberlynn's Point Of View...
"So he just...threw himself under the bus for you? Just like that?" Christian asked as he petted Destroyer, his lion Familiar
"Essentially...yes." I replied, just as confused as the rest of them.
Kellin told us that Gerard hated all Vampires: no matter who they were, no matter what they'd done, no matter where they were from: he hated them all. So I had absolutely no idea why he had admitted to both out head teachers why our little battle had begun.
It was just plain odd.
"We need to keep an eye on him." Chris said, stroking his raven Familiar's head to calm himself down. I could tell he was stressed; we all were. Being here was making us uneasy, and our Familiars could sense it too. Fiend, Andy's ferret was twining himself through Andy's hands, the pair of them playing together. Jake's owl, Mourner was sitting on his shoulder, and Jinxx's snake, Mystic was coiled around Jinxx's neck. Ryan's boa constrictor was wrapped lightly around his waist and neck. Devin's field mouse, Spectre, sat eating some cracker in Devin's hand as Devin lightly scratched between his ears, as that was what Spectre liked, even as he was glaring at Angelo's owl Athena, who was sat on Angelo's lap quite happily ignoring Spectre. Ricky's wild dog pup, Blaze snored in Ricky's lap.
But it wasn't just the smaller Familiars with us: Deviant, Ash's wolf was sitting on his feet. Siren, my tiger, and Nymph, my wolf, we sitting on either side of me on the floor. Vic's cheetah was stretched across his and Kellin's laps, with Kellin stroking her head lovingly; it had taken him a while to get used to Misty, but now he loved her just as much as she loved him. Mike's cheetah Sleet was purring between Mike and his brother, while Jaime's cheetah Hail (they were as close as siblings, the Fuentes and Jaime, and so their Familiar's were siblings) sat between him and Mike. Even Balz's solitary panther was satt glaring at us all from next to Balz.
We were all here, all our Familiars were here, which was a rare thing. We all liked to do our own things, and this only happened when something very serious was happening. And Chris was right: we did need to keep an eye on Gerard Way and his cronies; they could not be trusted...not as far as we could throw them.
So, the only question was...
"Well, what do we do about him then?"
Vic's Point Of View...
"...I don't know." Chris admitted to Emberlynn guiltily, but then his face hardened and his eyes filled with determination: "But we won't let him get to you, Ember. We promise."
Determined Chris had made a promise to keep Emberlynn safe.
She'd be fine.
"I know." she soothed from where she was sitting next to the fire place with Nymph and Siren, her Familiars as they nuzzled her, trying to cheer her up just as Misty was with me and Kellin. We knew something was wrong; our Familiars weren't playing, they were comforting, and they just seemed to know when something bad was going to happen even before it did, something I explained to Kellin that night as we got ready for bed.
We shared a bed now, so what? It's not like we could do anything; we shared a room with my brother our and best friend; that would just be...weird.
Kellin climbed into the shower behind me, resting his head on my chest on my shoulder as I hugged him. He knew we were Mates; Jaime had let it out the bag last night, and after it all being explained to him, he was perfectly fine with it, and more importantly: he was perfectly fine with me.
