"What do you love?"
"Performing."
Josh and CJ were laying on their backs in her bed together. They were staring at the glow in the dark stars on her ceiling. The 1975 played in the backround to keep their thoughts occupied.
"Why?"
"It's exhilerating," Josh answered. "You know how people talk about natural highs?"
CJ nodded.
"That's mine," Josh said. "It's crazy to hear people cheer and sing to your songs."
"It sounds amazing."
"You should come." Josh suggested.
"Maybe you could get a video."
Josh was silent.
"I want to, Josh," CJ told him. "I really do, but you saw me at the christmas party. If I can't answer a question in front of a few other people, how can I stand in a big crowd?"
"I know," Josh shook his head. "I shouldn't have asked.. I just thought that maybe you would wanna be there. For moral support, y'know?"
"I do." CJ grabbed his hand and wrapped her pinky around his. "I will. One day. To infinity and beyond, right?"
Josh was hesitant, but let out a quiet, "Yeah."
"What else do you love?"
"Soft socks," Josh answered. "My mom used to stress the importance of soft socks, and I've loved them ever since."
"That's cute." CJ giggled.
"What about you?"
"Me?"
"What do you love?"
CJ sighed. "Lights, of course."
"Why?"
"Because when there's darkness, there's light."
"What else?"
"Jenna." CJ said. "She's always been there for me. She was the light in my darkness."
"When did you guys meet?"
"Freshmen year of college," CJ replied. "We were at the same party."
"And you just bumped into each other."
"Yeah," CJ sighed. "Something like that."
Josh wrapped his fingers around hers and pulled it to his chest, letting it rest over his heart.
"I love warm hands."
"I have sweaty hands." CJ replied with a light laugh.
"Yeah," Josh agreed. "And nubby finger nails."
"You're not supposed to agree." CJ laughed.
Jenna was woken up by violent coughing from the nameless girl next to her.
"It's okay." Jenna told the girl as she sat her up and patted her back.
Judging off the look on the girl's face, Jenna quickly rushed her to the bathroom and helped her hunch over the toilet.
Jenna rubbed the girl's back as the remnants from the previous night came out in the form of vomit.
"This is disgusting." CJ mumbled into the toilet bowl.
"I know." Jenna replied.
"You're not supposed to agree."
"My nails are just as messed up," Josh said. "Maybe we can grow them out and paint them together."
"My anxiety disagrees." CJ joked.
"You should disagree," Josh told her. "Not your anxiety."
"So wise." CJ whispered.
"What else do you love?"
"Your smile."
"Why?"
"Your eyes squint and you get these deep dimples," CJ could see it in her mind without even having to look at him. "And sometimes you put your tongue between your teeth when you laugh really hard."
"Your smile is pretty amazing too."
"That's all you have to say about it?" CJ joked.
Josh poked her side and began tickling her a little, which ended with him just about on top of her and comfortabley close to her lips.
"I could show you if you let me."
"Mhm." CJ nodded eagerly.
Josh kissed CJ slowly with his hand on her waist until he heard her humming. He pulled away just a tiny bit.
"Now we're on the bed in my room." CJ sang in an almost-whisper as her lips grazed his.
"You interrupted our amazing kiss to sing?" Josh asked, then began kissing her again.
"Mhm." She hummed against his lips.
Josh pulled away and gazed at her.
"What?" CJ bit her bottom lip.
"I'm just wondering why I didn't find you earlier."
"I'm wondering the same thing."
They both let out a light giggle before continuing.
With tension between them growing thicker and kisses getting sloppier, Josh decided to slide his hand under her shirt.
Josh's fingertips against her cold skin sent chills down her spine. It was only when her reached her chest that she shoved his hand down.
Josh pulled away from her and waited for her to speak.
"Not yet, okay?" CJ told him.
"Yeah." Josh nodded quickly.
"CJ I-" Jenna had opened the door, but immediately stopped when she saw the scene.
"Jenna." CJ sighed as Josh got off and fell next to her.
"If this is what you guys do during the day," Jenna shook her head. "I don't wanna know what you do at night."
"What do you want?" CJ asked with an exasperated sigh.
"I just wanted to know what you wanted for dinner." Jenna said innocently.
"I don't care," CJ answered. "Just get out? Please?"
So, Jenna left without another word.
"Where were we?" Josh began tickling CJ again.
Not much later, Josh joined Jenna in the kitchen.
