Paddy runs onstage, with a spotlight on him, into the crowd. Daniel is marching toward the docks with his sketches in his hand. Paddy runs for Daniel.
Paddy: Daniel! Daniel, thank the Lord I’ve found you!
Daniel (glowing): Come with me to see Mr. Andrews! I have the answer!
Paddy: Daniel, listen to me! The twelve pounds in the money clip! We robbed Kevin Gilhooley! That’s James Gilhooley’s brother!
Daniel: How do you know? You tried to spend one of the notes, didn’t you?!
Paddy: Never mind that now! They want to use us to show all of Belfast what happens to people who cheat the Gilhooleys!
Daniel: Maybe Mr. Andrews can help us.
Paddy: How? He’s a shipbuilder, not a copper! And anyway, half the police are on the Gilhooley’s payroll!
Daniel: He’s an important man. If nothing else, we can ask his advice.
Daniel turns to Joseph, the guard.
Daniel: My name is Daniel Sullivan. Mr. Thomas Andrews is expecting me and my friend.
Joseph: You’re Daniel Sullivan? Can you prove it?
Paddy: He knows something important about the Titanic. He’s brought sketches to show Mr. Andrews.
Joseph (doubtfully): Well, all right. Mr. Andrews is aboard the ship right now, supervising the loading of stores. She’s just back from sea trials, and a right lovely job she made of it, too. You can’t miss her. She’s the big one with the four funnels.
Paddy and Daniel continue along the docks.
Paddy: When are they leaving?
Daniel: Soon. We have to find Mr. Andrews right away.
Suddenly, Kevin creeps out from behind Paddy and Paddy falls down. We see Kevin is holding a shillelagh. He does the same to Daniel.
Daniel: Run, Paddy!
Paddy tries to stand up. Joseph appears on the docks.
Joseph (to Kevin): You take you thuggery elsewhere!
Kevin: Gilhooley’s the name! If you’ll mind your own business, my brother and I will be much obliged!
Joseph backs off. Paddy runs to the edge of the deck, and turns around to see Daniel being carried off by Kevin. Daniel is limp and unmoving. Paddy believes that he must be dead. He turns back and picks up Daniels sketch, then he runs offstage, onto the Titanic.
