Maggie POV

I didn't suspect anything at first. I visited Alex's new job at some pizza place. As I entered I searched the place for any sign of where Alex was. A few customers eyed me oddly as I had been standing in the doorway for quite some time now. Taking a seat in a booth I picked up a menu and continued surveying the place. It was a small, cute little place. A few booths and tables were scattered throughout the restaurant. Few people, about a dozen, were eating their pizzas and talking. The kitchen was in the back with only a small window to see through. I squinted my eyes further at the small circular window trying to make out what was inside. Suddenly a familiar brown haired girl dashed across the window view before disappearing. I was pulled from my thoughts as a waiter stood in front of me.

"What can I get for you today Miss?" she asked.

"Actually I was here to see my girlfriend Alex." I replied.

Her face remained neutral, still revealing a bright smile. It was now I took in her appearance. I recognized her from school. I didn't know much about her, just saw her in the hallways. She had bright blue eyes and brown hair that looked perfect. Not a single hair was out of place. Her slim figure complimented the uniform she was wearing. All in all, she was beautiful.

"I'm afraid Alex isn't here." she replied.

"She told me like 20 minutes ago she was going to work. And I just saw her run through the kitchen." I said.

"Oh, that Alex. She's a little busy right now. Maybe come back another time?"

"I think I'll wait."

A flash of annoyance appeared on the woman's face before she disappeared behind the kitchen doors.

About 38 minutes later Alex finally burst through the kitchen doors. My stomach twisted up at the sight. Alex was gorgeous and just looking at her did weird things to me.

"Hey babe." she said sliding into the booth across from me.

"Where were you?" I asked. "Is that blood!?"

Alex scanned her body whilst me doing the same. She was wearing all black and her hair fell messily over her shoulders. Her face was slightly dirty and a red substance was splattered on her exposed forearm. It wasn't too noticeable but to any observant person it was clearly there.

"And the waiter tried to tell me you weren't here." I said.

"One of the cooks cut his finger pretty bad while cutting up tomatoes." she replied.

"Where's your uniform?"

"Got blood on it but a co-worker had an extra pair of clothes." Alex replied.

I felt my body physically relax as I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I guess that all made sense.

**********

The next time I grew curious as to where Alex was going was only 3 days later. It was Saturday and Alex and I were at her house playing pool. I, of course, was winning.

"Give it up Danvers. You'll never beat me." I said smirking.

"Wanna bet Sawyer?" Alex said approaching me.

She grabbed my waist and pressed her body to mine, trapping me between her and the pool table. I felt my face flush red, no matter how hard I tried to hide it.

"What does the winner get?" I said standing my ground.

She was about to say something when her phone rang. Grumbling she pulled it out and answered.
