It was a quiet day in the literature club. Yuri was reading a heavy novel, Sayori was writing a poem and Monika was writing something or other in her notebook.
Natsuki glanced disinterestedly around the room. She had already finished all the volumes of Parfait Girls, and she didn't fancy reading them again. She made her way to the front of the clubroom, making a point to stomp her feet loudly along the way.
"Listen up, everyone!" Natsuki said, as Yuri, Sayori and Monika looked up at her.
"What is it, Natsuki?" Monika asked her.
"Things are getting boring here," Natsuki continued, as if Monika hadn't spoken. "Do any of you know what we could do to spice things up a little?"
"U-Um...." Yuri rose her hand steadily. "I-I have a suggestion."
"And what would that be?" Natsuki demanded. Why was her heart pounding all of a sudden? Natsuki clutched her chest, in a desperate attempt to stop it from pounding.
"W-we could write a collage of all our favourite words." Yuri spoke carefully, as if she had to clearly think of each word before it was spoken. "We could arrange those words into a shape of your choosing." Yuri blushed heavily. "T-that is, i-if you w-want to choose...."
"E-eh?" Natsuki's posture stiffened, as she blushed heavily. "I w-was gonna choose anyway.....i-idiot...."
"O-oh...." Yuri looked down at her desk. "I-I'm sorry...."
"G-good," Natsuki retorted weakly. She turned to Monika, sighing. "Have you got any ideas?"
"Um....not really...." Monika giggled nervously. "I'm not really all that creative...."
"Ugh," Natsuki groaned. She turned to Sayori. "Sayori, you're my last hope. Got any ideas?"
"Ooh! Can I bake some cookies to go with Yuri's idea!" Sayori said, grinning. "I can help you bake them!"
Natsuki sighed. "Yuri's idea it is."
Yuri smiled. "Thank you for accepting my suggestion, Natsuki. I am so relieved that you have came to this decision, and that I could be of use to your plan of, as you put it, 'spicing things up a little'."
"No need to sound so overly explanatory," Natsuki said dismissively, mostly due to the fact she couldn't understand any of the complex words Yuri used. Now she thought of it, Yuri's way of describing things matched her rather sophisticated manner.
Suddenly, Natsuki bounded over to Yuri. "I'll sit next to you, Yuri." She said, bringing a chair to Yuri's desk.
"We're s-sitting at the same desk?" Yuri said.
Natsuki stiffened. "Uuu! You're making me feel weird about it."
"I suppose I-I can make room for you, N-Natsuki. It wouldn't be too much t-trouble. I'm sorry for making you feel u-uncomfortable."
"It's fine," Natsuki grumbled, and plopped in her seat next to Yuri.
"What words will you write, Natsuki?"
"I don't know specifically!" Natsuki snapped. Noticing Yuri's hurt expression, she blushed. "C-cutesy words, probably...."
She began snatching pieces of paper and writing different words on them.
Paper, manga, sweet, nice, cupcakes, Kawaii, hearts, clouds, fluffy.
Each word was delicately written on pieces of paper.
Yuri carefully wrote words onto her pieces of paper, putting immense thought into each one.
Eons, universe, expanding, intensify, starlight, unfeigned, intellectual.
