A/N:
There is snowwwwwwwww. Yayyyyy ^-^
The next few chapters will introduce a few new characters and go into more depth about Ada. I hope you enjoy reading this short yet powerful chapter (see what I did there? xD)
She nodded to show her understanding, despite being anxious. Rachel forced a smile on her face, took a deep breath and told Mr. Lovegrove that she was ready.
"Air." He said straight away, he must've known the list off by heart after the many times he had tested people. Rachel knew her only power was Fire but tried it anyway. She reached her hand out, closed her eyes and concentrated. Somehow she knew what to do, possibly because of seeing Ignisia and Adaquo use them. Soficians tended to use their powers on a daily basis, but they were all trained. Rachel wasn't even experienced enough to be called an amateur.
Although Rachel couldn't see Mr. Lovegrove, she could hear the sound of his pen ticking the list. She opened her eyes. A mini tornado hovered over her sweaty palm, soon shrinking into a small gust of cool wind. Rachel stared in astonishment at where the tornado had existed for a second, "Do I have-"
"Earth," he interrupted, his friendly face now looked cold and unwelcoming.
"I don't have all day you know."
His sudden change in attitude took Rachel by shock, he had seemed kind at the start of the test. His unexpected rudeness didn't help soothe her nerves. She tried to clear her thoughts and connect with the earth beneath her feet. Unexpectedly the hard, wooden floor cracked open and the soil rose out of the ground, with a few rocks and worms. Rachel gasped in surprise and stepped back immediately.
The short — and now grumpy — old man seemed surprised, "You must be one of the lucky few who possesses two powers." Rachel didn't mention her ability to control fire, meaning she had three elements. Am I some sort of freak? Is it possible to have three elements?
Next up was Electricity, "Electricity?" Rachel questioned. Mr. Lovegrove raised an eyebrow at her like she was supposed to know how to do it. Ignisia's sister had electricity powers and could produce lighting. Lightning. Rachel pictured lightning and produced a small bolt. It hovered over her palm in the same manner as the tornado had and disappeared.
Rachel heard Lovegrove say something, but couldn't decipher what. She was too busy trying to create a flame. A ring of fire surrounded her, like what had happened at her school a few days ago. That felt like years ago. This time the circle of flames was smaller and not as strong. Mr. Lovegrove was now gobsmacked, and so was Rachel.
"Ice," Once again Rachel closed her eyes and focused. Her powers now were now effortless, producing each element Mr. Lovegrove read out. The room grew cold, and icicles started to hang from the ceiling. They soon melted and fell onto Mr. Lovegrove's head, it took Rachel a lot of effort to hold in her laugh at his fury.
"How many elements left?" she asked impatiently, crossing her arms "The other students only took a few minutes."
He flushed red and clenched his fists. Immediately, Rachel realized her mistake. Why did I do that? Don't anger the psychopath. "MAYBE THAT'S BECAUSE THE OTHER STUDENTS AREN'T FREAKS WITH MORE THAN TWO POWERS!" Mr. Lovegrove yelled at the top of his lungs, Rachel froze in fear. He raised his hand to use his powers. Multiple dark silhouettes appeared on the white walls. There were only two people in the room. Shadows, his power must be darkness. The shadows started to walk off of the walls — that was the last thing Rachel could remember.
