Ferris POV

________________________________________________________________________________

I woke up the next morning blinded by the sun. I groaned and rolled over, and felt a empty spot on the bed where Kory should have been.

All of a sudden, the events of yesterday flashed through my head.

All events logged on mission timeline. Fenris said. We were not dreaming.

I sat on the bed for a moment, trying to get my bearings in an unfamiliar house. Kory's scent was heavy in the room, and it was like a comforting blanket. I staggered to my feet and clothed myself.

After lacing up my shoes, I stopped at the door. I was in a huge house, full of werewolves that had no idea who I was. Then, I repeated my personal mantra. You are a Shepard. Get up, get going.

I opened the door, and walked out into the hallway and down into the main kitchen area. I passed around four or five other people awake, but it seemed I was one of the first up. I checked my watch, and indeed the time read 5:30. First bell rand at 8.

I found not a soul in the kitchen, and I decided to step outside to attempt to locate Kory. I opened the door and was smacked with a heavy gust of freezing cold air.

"H-holy shit" I said aloud.

All I had was a t-shirt.

I mustered up, and walked out into the crisp morning air. I stepped down off of the house's large porch and onto he field. Kory was still nowhere to be found, so I circled the house, heading for the cliff. As I rounded the house, about a hundred feet away stood Kory, on the edge of the high rocks.

I walked over to him and stood beside him, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"Ferris? Why are you up this early?" He asked, putting an arm around me.

"I'm used to getting up early. I never have slept much. I would have like to wake up next to you, though." I replied.

"Sorry. You will tomorrow, providing you stay over. I woke up an hour ago and couldn't go back to bed. Hey, you don't have a jacket on, it's cold out here! Come on, lets go inside."

Now that he mentioned it, my body temperature was rapidly lowering. I allowed him to guide me back to the house and through the door.

"Fall is hitting hard this year." He remarked.

"Wait here a sec, I'll get you a jacket." He said, and jogged up to his room, leaving me in the kitchen.

I took a moment to look around. The place looked like a modern-Victorian mashup, with ornate furniture mixed with holo-display plates and IKEA couches.

"Morning." A voice said.

I turned quickly, and saw that it was Leo.

"Oh. Morning." I replied, leaning on the counter.

"How's werewolf life treating you?" He asked, doing the same.

"Heh, about that. I'm glad Kory told me. I was beginning to think I was going crazy." I said, half joking.

"Well, you are certainly taking it better than most. Last year we had a wolf mated to a human, and the human went a little whack. Thankfully she came to her senses before anything... regretful happened."

"I think it goes well with my past. The whole werewolf thing, I mean. I didn't have the most conventional upbringing, so it opened my mind a little to the unusual." I said as Kory jagged back down the stairs.
