"D. Va? What's wrong? Please don't cry!" I said as I rubbed small circles with my hand on her back.
"I missed you, (Y/N)!" She sobbed and grasped onto me once again.
I looked up and saw the faces of my best friends. Everyone was here. Everyone was looking at me. Normally I'd shy away from the attention, but this, this was my family.
And I had missed them like hell.
_____
Everyone had their chance to hug me and express how scared they were. Honestly, I was glad it was me instead of anyone else. If he so much as laid a finger on D. Va, he'd be buried 6 feet under again.
Speaking of D. Va, she hadn't left my side the entire time. Neither did Soldier. Well, he was kind of obligated to stay.
"D. Va?"
"Yes, (Y/n)?" She looked up at me.
"Wanna have a girls' night tonight?" I smiled when her face lit up.
"Of course! I can't wait! I'll meet you in my room at 7." She stood up to leave.
"Why so late?"
"My room is a complete mess, (Y/n). You'd be horrified."
I laughed, "Okay, okay. I'll meet you there at 7." And with that, she dashed to her room.
"You're not going there alone." A gruffy voice said from my right side. I had completely forgotten that Solider was there. He scared me.. again.
"Excuse me? I haven't seen her for months! You can't just tell me that I can't see my best friend! I refus-"
"Calm down." He took me by my shoulders and shook me a bit.
I huffed, "I am calm. I just want to see her. Please."
"I never told you that you couldn't see her, just that you're not going there alone. As Lúcio said, your legs are far too weak for you to be on your own and I doubt that D. Va has the strength to carry you to the medical bay if something were to happen." He paused to let it sink in. "I'm suggesting that I come with you two. You won't know I'm even there. This is for your safety, (Y/n). Understood?"
"Okay... dad." I mumbled the last part under my breath.
"What did you say?" He asked.
"I said okay." I shrugged and pretended to look confused.
"Last time I checked, you and Lúcio are close. Why don't you call him your dad instead." He turned away from me.
"What? That's not what I meant! I'm saying that you're just acting like an overprotective father! Or like an angry gran-" He slapped his hand over my mouth.
"Don't say 'grandfather'. You know nothing of my past." He took his hand off of me and walked away.
Dramatic much?
He's just a grumpy old man!
