The next day, Connor was amped up with anxiety and fear for what Evan and him were about to do. They stood in front of the front door to Connor's house and Connor felt as if he might die right there. It was so easy for Evan to tell his mom, but how would Connor's parents react to the fact that their only son was gay... He couldn't breathe, move, or talk. He was petrified on the spot. Although Evan had told him only moments ago that everything would work out, Connor was still just too scared.

His parents had no interest in what was going on with him... Though, they used to, all those years ago. He remembered the baseball glove his dad had got him as a way of trying to bond with him, but he just threw it on his shelf, allowing it to collect dust. It still sat there, perched on the bookshelf, never having been used. "I can't do this, Evan. I ca-" Connor began, but Evan cut him off. "Yes, you can! If I could do it, then you can too, Connor... I believe in you..." Evan knocked on the door, not wanting to barge in and disrupt Connor's family. Zoe opened the door, her long, brown hair done-up in a messy bun. She was still wearing her pajamas. They were pink and silky. She also wore a pair of pink bunny slippers.

"Connor. You live here. You could've just walked in." She mumbled, leaning up against the doorway. "Could you get mom and dad? I need to tell them something, you too." Connor said, fighting the urge to snap at Zoe with a mean remark. He needed to control his anger... He couldn't let the situation get bad before it even began. She left to go and collect their parents, a confused expression on her face. Connor knew she was confused. He had never had any interest in talking to them before, but this was something he would have to communicate to them sooner or later. If he kept his and Evan's relationship a secret from them forever, he might never get to be the person he wanted to be. Open, honest, completely and utterly in love with Evan Hansen.

Cynthia and Larry, Connor's parents, entered the doorway accompanied by Zoe. The three of seemed to be questioning what Connor wanted to talk about because they all appeared to be confused. "You might want to sit down for this one." Connor stated. "Just get on with it." Larry said. Connor was looking for the words to say. He could've just busted out with, 'Mom. Dad. I'm gay and this is my boyfriend. Hope you accept me! If not, then whatever, I'll still love Evan no matter what.'

He shook his head, finally able to form the correct sentence. "You've met Evan, right?" The three of them nodded, Zoe added in that she had actually seen him at school a few times before he had come over that one day. "Well... Evan's my boyfriend." Cynthia and Larry both shared astonished expressions. Oh, no. Here it comes... They were going to kick out Connor, disown him, throw him out... Connor began to back away, fearing what they were going to say. The same thought was going through his head, clogging up his brain. 'They hate me. They hate me. They hate me. They hate me. They hate m-' His thoughts abruptly stopped. His parents didn't look angry... Or sad... Or disappointed... They looked happy. Not happy as in, happy he's gay... But, happy that he had opened up to them.

They pulled Connor into a hug. Zoe joined in a few seconds after the hug had commenced. Evan stood by, awkwardly... Larry had eventually yanked him into the hug as well. "Son, it's okay if you're gay. We don't care about your sexuality, can't help who you love." Larry stated, locking his arm with Cynthia's as he had finished his sentence. Everything had according to plan.

Every fear that had haunted Connor now vanished as if they were never there to begin with. He put his arms around Evan in a loving embrace. The two were lost in each other once again, no longer fearing tomorrow.
