I decided to take a shower in the white room and the white towels. Everything in the house was so white and looked like nobody lived in it. It kind of reminded me of Cathy's life. She has to be all alone because of her job. Her life is kind of white..
After my shower I looked at my clock which read 10:48, so I lied in my big bed and pulled the covers up. I was very cozy and quickly fell asleep.
I had a nightmare that my mom cheated on Jack and then died because Jack beat her to death.I woke up in a cold sweat with tears rushing down my face. I couldn't imagine my mom cheating on Jack or worse, him beat her to death instead of a stupid drunk driver taking her out.
I looked at my clock, 4:24, way too early to get out of bed yet, so I closed my eyes and tried falling back to sleep, which I failed. I got up and went to my computer to check my email. One email from Taylor which read:
-Email-
Dear Katie,
I miss you soooo much. It's so quiet around here without you. School starts in 5 days so I already have my stuff too. I need to come up for a weekend! You know I've always wanted to see California!! Turns out the guy next door..uh... doesn't play for my team so I guess I'll have to find someone els. :( tell me when you get a boyfriend!!! I miss you.
Lots of love!,
TaylorSeeing her email kind of made me sad because I don't know anyone around here and I have to start at a whole school and not know anybody. This made me very nervous. I decided I could write back later since it was only 4:30 now. I heard talking downstairs so I went to investigate.
"You can't leave! Not with her here! I don't know how to handle an eleven year old kid!"
"She's 10!"
"Like I said. I HAVE NO CLUE!!"
"I want to go experience life! Have my own husband and kids and not have to raise yours!!"
"You can do that! We have a spare room. You can get paid from me and live here with you husband and kids but remember Cathy, you're 40 and the chances of you having kids are slim but I don't want you to leave. I love you being here, Cathy."
"Jack, I just need some time. I think I'll go gather my things."
I was standing on the stairs as the tears rushed down my face. She couldn't leave me here with him! I need her! I need a mother figure! I sat on the stairs and began to weep. I didn't care that Cathy was coming up the stairs to get her things.
"Katie???" Cathy asked, surprised to see me crying on the stairs.
"You can't leave me Cathy! I'm sorry for bringing up you having a family. I don't want you to leave. I need you here, I need a mother figure just as bad as a father figure. Please." I begged.
"Katie, it's not because of you, I've been thinking this for a while."
"But you can't leave me. You're the closest thing to a mother I have now.." This time I started bawling. I hadn't cried that hard since I found out my mother was dead.
"Okay, okay. I'll stay. But I would like to see people outside of this house."
"That's fine." I said, still crying. "I'll make sure you can leave."
"Yes, I agree, you deserve some time to yourself.." Jack chimed in. "What are you doing up exactly, Katie?"
"I woke up from a nightmare and heard you guys talking, so I came down.." I said, embarrassed.
"So you were eves- dropping?" Jack asked, surprised.
"Uhm.. yes sir. I was..."
"If I catch you doing that again, I'll ground you!" he roared.
"Yes sir..."
