No song I'm in such a bad mood right now

Jackie POV

-

"I don't know, I don't really think I feel like going shopping this week, Leslie," I say as we both slowly make our way down the hall.

It's finally Friday and the last bell just rung throughout the school. Every student wasted no time in pouring out into the halls, eager to start their weekend.

"What do you mean?" She halts right next to my locker, her eyebrows furrowing, "We haven't hung in so long! You've been with Marcel, Abbie, Macy, and Tabby these last weekends. You can't make room for your best friend?"

"Exactly. I do something every weekend. Can I spend one week alone? I'm tired. I'm not even sure how good I did on that math test." I whine, twisting my lock.

She groans, "Come on. This isn't fair, I got you and Marcel back together."

I huff as I miss my second number and have to start over.

"You say it like we're dating. And anyway I appreciate that. This week I'll be in bed, sleeping, and dreaming about how to repay you," I chuckle and she rolls her eyes.

"I just thought..–" Leslie trails off and I turn around to see where she was looking. Marcel had just closed his locker and leaned against it, his eyes wide.

"Marcel!" Leslie calls and he jumps, looking around.

His eyes find Leslie and he gives off a nervous wave.

"You okay?" She asks, tilting her head.

Marcel looks at me, to Leslie, and then back at me, "Y-Yeah.. I'm fine."

"Hey," I smile softly and give him a small wave.

His face had gone pale but his eyes show a mixture of nervousness and slight excitement as he waves back. "H-Hi."

He looked as if his mind seemed to daze as he stared at me. I was about to ask him if he was okay again but Leslie cut me off.

"So do you have any weekend pla—"

He shows a small smile that lasts for a second as he looks at me, "Um.. I.. I gotta go. I'll see y-you later, Jackie? T-Tonight I mean?"

Leslie's mouth drops.

"Y-Yeah, yeah. Sure, see you later," I smile and he nervously chuckles.

"Err.. yeah. Bye," he blushes and slowly backs away. He's almost out the door when he turns around, "Oh, bye Leslie." And then smiles at me once more before turning back around, leaving the school.

"Well then." She says the second he leaves.

I smile to myself as I turn back around and begin putting in my code again.

"So he gets to hang out with you, but I don't?" She crosses her arms and I momentarily and snapped away from my daze.

"Sorry?"

"You said you'd see him tonight!" She sounds frustrated.

"Oh I.. I don't know, I guess he wants to come over? Sorry, I wasn't—I didn't pay a.." I sigh, "Fine–fine I'll cancel." I huff as I tug my locker down and pull it open.

I'm caught off guard when I find a note dropping out of my locker. Leslie looks at me curiously and I just shrug, eagerly picking it up off the ground and opening it up.

❝Dear Jackie, would you please give me the honor to take you out on a date tonight? I'm sorry about the way I'm asking. This is a result of me being desperate but a coward at the same time.

I've made a reservation for tonight at Sticotto's for two at 7 pm. The table will be under our name. Please come?

My eyes widen, "Oh my God!" I scream.

A few people stop to stare but I pay them no attention. Is this real?

"Oh my God!" Leslie screams back.

"Leslie do you fucking see this too?" I look down at the paper, smiling uncontrollably.

"Yes! It's freaking real. Hurry up and get your things, I have to make you perfect for this date!" She rushes me.

I blink a few times and nod, quickly stuffing all my things in my locker and grabbing my purse.

"Date?" Niall stops to ask, with Louis by his side.

I slam the locker closed and turn around, eagerly shoving the note in his face, "Yes, yes, yes, look! Freaking look!"

"I'm looking, I'm looking," he chuckles, holding it up to read it. Louis leans over his shoulder to see it.

Both of them raise their eyebrows, "Wow!"

"Wow?" Leslie snaps, "Niall this is so much more than wow!" She smacks his shoulder.

"Oh my God, give me that back!" I snatch the paper back. My hands were still shaking from shock and happiness.

"Sorry, gosh. I meant congratulations." He rubs his arm, "I meant wow as a good thing!"

Louis laughs, "I'm happy for you, Jackie."

"Thanks Louis." I smile even wider, bouncing on my toes.

"We have to go now! It's 3 and we only have 4 hours till their reservation!" She rushes and grabs hold of my arm. I wave at them as she hurriedly drags me out of the school, my mind gone blank as I let her.

It's only till I'm being pushed into Leslie's car did I somewhat snap back to reality, "What about my car?"

"We'll come back for it later."

I simply shrug, not letting the wide grin on my face fade. Marcel asked me out on a date. It wasn't in person but I honestly don't care. He can't even kiss me without getting nervous, I know this must've been such a huge, scary step for him.

I'm so proud, overjoyed, scared, and nervous all in one body. It's an overwhelming feeling. Only he could make me feel this way.

I wonder how mom will react.

"Mum!" I scream as I lay out my possible outfit.

She comes running up the stairs, "Yes, sweetie?"

"I'm sorry I keep bothering you—"

"It's fine, baby I promise. This is a dream come true."

"Mum," I groan.

"Okay, okay. Sorry, I'll hold off on the emotional until you leave." She assures me.

"Thank you," I exhale, "Anyway I.. um.. is a suit too much?" I point to my suit I have laid out on the bed.

Mum chuckles lightly, "I'm afraid so sweetie. I know you're new at this but, I don't think you'll be going on a date anytime soon to where you actually need to wear a suit."

"Mum what am I supposed to wear then? Do I wear my slacks, just my blazer, or—"

"Okay, sweetie calm down," she puts her hands onto my shoulders, "Everything will be okay. How about you just wear one of your sweaters? It's going to turn a little chilly tonight."

"But aren't I supposed to give her my jacket and things like that?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"Honey that's not.. just don't worry about that, okay? Text her to dress a bit warm. You go pick out your favorite sweater and I'll go bring out the iron for you. Does that sound good?"

I nod, "Thanks mum. I'm just a bit stressed out.. and nervous.. and afraid.. and a little–"

"I understand, darling. It's your first date."

"And it's Jackie," I run my hands over my face.

"Oh but we can't forget that," she smiles, "I'll be right back." She walks out of the room to fetch the iron.

I sigh and sit for a few seconds, dragging my hands down my cheeks several times. I'm shaking. God this is going to be horribl– no. No, this date will be amazing. I'll make it amazing. I'll make it a night for her to remember.

I slowly reach for my phone and shakily unlock it. I purse my lips and force out a text to her, hoping I say nothing stupid. After a few attempts and uncountable times of backspacing, I find myself sending it before I have a chance to back out.

To Jackie:

My mum says it'll turn chilly tonight. Dress warm. Please, dress warm I mean. Not too warm though, I don't want you to get over-heated. I didn't mean for that to sound pushy. But, I just wanted to warn you.. I'll see you soon.
