Sapphire's POV
I pushed Casey out from her room and dragged her outside. Mom and I planned our vacation on a private beach. We don't actually die when we touch sunlight, but sometimes we feel a sharp stinging pain when the sun is strongly shining.
"Where are we going again?" She whined as she clutched her bag on her chest.
I opened the front door and dragged her towards the parked car in front of us.
"We're going to go to the mall." I grinned as Casey showed a confused look.
"Why are we going to the mall?" She asked as I shrugged. I can't tell her about the vacation, it'll ruin the surprise.
"I need to buy new clothes and you're my best friend, it's your duty to come with me to the mall." I smiled as she took my bait; she believed me and just nodded.
Going to the mall for us is a normal thing since we go there often. In fact, it's a rule between us to never go to the mall without each other. She smiled as she happily got in without any complaints.
"So where are we going to go first?"
**
After the mall we went back home. I packed a suitcase and secretly packed Casey's, you can't actually go on and tell her
"Pack your bags we're going out!" And drag her to who knows where.
So I packed for her. After me and my Mom discussed the vacation we told everyone and they agreed, good thing Mel and Jasper owns a beach house, they don't usually use the house, they just wanted to have one on a beach. So they insist that we all use it. Gladly.
Everyone went on ahead while I wait for the perfect time to get the suitcases in the car. I zipped the last one up and changed my clothes, I decided on beach wears; won't it be so obvious if I go along with this? Nah it'll work out. I opened the door and looked from left to right, no sign of Casey, good. I carried all of the suitcase and quickly went outside and opened the trunk, good thing Casey's busy being depressed. I sighed and nodded when I finally fit the suit cases and turned around only to see Casey behind me with a confused look plastered on her face.
"Oh, what are you doing here?" I nervously asked her and awkwardly laughed, she shot an eyebrow up and looked behind me trying to find out what I was doing but I blocked it off. I turned around as quickly as possible and shut the trunk, breathing out as soon as I did. I turned my head back to her and saw her sigh.
"Where's everyone? I search the whole place and found no one." She frowned as I felt sadness within her eyes, here's my chance.
"Mel and Mom went to check out the furniture's at the shop. Jasper, Aiden and Xander went to do King stuffs. May and Mark is on a date." She sighed as I finished my excuse.
"I don't think they'll be back soon. Why don't we have some fun instead?" I grinned as she shot up a look with shimmers in her eyes. It's been awhile since we've been out on a road trip. She loves adventuring.
"Sure!" She smiled widely and started jumping up and down.
Here we go!

So they're all fixing the place, it might take two hours before we arrive at the place. I don't think they'll be done in 2 hours.
"Where are we going?" She asked. It took a few seconds before I came up with an excuse.
"I don't know. Ooh! Why not the beach!" I exclaimed as she looked excited as a kid.
"That sounds fun!"
"Okay but first we need to buy snacks and drinks, where is the next store from here?" I asked and tried to look confused while she laughed.
"Turn right." She pointed out.
If we go right it'll take us about an hour before we start heading to the beach. The beach is in the other way so it'll take us about a few hours before we arrive. That'll be just right for the other to finish preparing.
**
We finally finished buying snacks which took us half an hour because Casey here decided she wanted to play tag at the convenience store. What a pain. We had all eyes looking at us while she ran like an idiot. Some of them were laughing their ass off while some of them gave us weird looks until the manager decided to approach us and scolded us for acting like children in such place. We apologized and went back to shopping for food and finally finished. This better be worth it.

An hour and a half later.
"Are we there yet?" She whined. I clutched the steering wheel tighter, remembering how many times she's asked that question.
"No."
"Are we there yet?" She poked my cheek this time.
I crossed my eyebrows and tried ignoring on how she's being childish this time.
"No." I breathed. There are different sides of her with every mood. Just like earlier, she's a grown up being depressed. When we were at the mall she was a teenager having fun. Now, she's a child irritating her Mom.
"Are we--"
"For the last time we are not there yet, I'll tell you when we get there." I was pissed off while she was still giggling. Remember when I thought it was good idea to take our time? Well now I regret it.
We were heading to the beach but why am I seeing trees? A lot of trees. The sign said the beach was this way, oh my god. Are we lost? I was about to panic when Casey exclaimed and pressed her face against the glass.
"We're here!" And pointed out on a clearing. I turned my head to my side which was a terrible idea if we were on a busy road.
"Wow." We both said.
No trees, no mountain. Just clear blue sea with white clear sand and a beautiful house on the side. That must be the house. It's gorgeous. It's all glass. Casey squealed in excitement as my ears fall off. God, what a pain. But I ended up smiling about it. Seeing my best friend all happy melts my heart, it's been weeks since I saw her smile like this, sure she's been smiling but this is her real smile, her real happiness.

Casey's POV
I got excited when I saw the beach. Who wouldn't be? I remember when Sapphire and I used to go together when we go to the beach. We only go there when one of us were stressed out or just for fun. I missed those days, when we still haven't met our mates, when it was just the two of us against the world. I'm not saying that I regret meeting our mates. I just miss the days when we're just us, and not someone else or creatures that we weren't before. A tear rolled down but I quickly wiped it away and smiled at the scenery.
"What's wrong?" She asked me with a worried look.
But I just smiled and held her hand.
"Thank you, for this." I smiled which she smiled back and held my hand tighter.
"We're close." She grinned while I had no idea what she's talking about.
