Love Comes in Many Colors

Chapter 13

   It's the next day, I wake up at my usually time and get ready. I don't hear Zack though. He might of overslept. I then get a text from Chloe.

Chloe: I'll be taking you to school. Meet me outside in 5 and I'll get you an iced coffee.

I respond with a simple ok. I get my things and walk outside. A few minutes later she arrives. She's in her brother's truck. I get in the truck and she drives me to Mcdonalds. She orders herself an iced coffee and she gets me one too. We then head towards the school it feels weird going to the back parking lot. Usually my brother leaves me up front. Chloe holds my hand. She finds a parking spot and parks. We get off and since no one is around we hold hands all the way towards the cafeteria. We had already finished our coffees , but we still get breakfast.

   After breakfast, we head towards the hill you can stand on and look out towards the field. We stand there together holding each other never letting go. We just look out towards the field, not caring if someone notices us. We love each other and that's all that matter. A little while later, the bell rings. We wave goodbye and walk our separate ways.

   I get to my first period class and find computers on our desks. I look up at the board and it says "Practice Test", but testing doesn't start in like two weeks. Next week is the Spring Dance. I still haven't picked out a dress...

  After the dreadful test I went on with my day. By fourth, I was already done. I wanted to go to the garden so bad. I want to see Chloe. Well, this class isn't that bad. We're just review, but not really. Once we're done, Ms. Lopez lets us play Kahoot.

Its now lunch and I run towards to get my lunch. Once I do I head towards the garden. Before I could even get past the ROTC room, Alan stops me. "Hey Nicole." he says. I turn around to see him. He then ask "Will you be attending today's practice?" I just realized that I forgot about today's practice. "Oh, yeah. I'll be there. 2:10 Right?" I say. He nods. "Anyways, I've got to go" I smile and way at him. I start walking towards the courtyard area. I make a left, hiding behind some other building. I peak around the corner to see if he's still there. He's not. I then start walking back towards the ROTC room and he's now gone. I look towards the small opening which leads to the garden and rush up to the garden.

   I make my way in, I walk towards the bench and notice Chloe's backpack is open. I set my backpack down then close her backpack. I look around for her. I then see her. She's sitting on the grass in the very back. She's eating a fruit salad. I run towards her. She closes her salads container and stands up. She throws open her arms waiting for my hug. Once I get to her I place my salad down then jump into her arms. "I missed you too Nickel." She says. She then let's go and I let go too. She then sits down, I sit down right in front of her. We talk about our morning and how testing is coming up. We both aren't that excited for testing month, but we're just going to let it come. I'm not even worried about. A test is not the end of the world. "So, have you gotten your dress for the Spring Dance?" Chloe says taking a bite of a piece of watermelon. I look at Chloe then look down. "I'll take that as a no." She finishes up her fruit salad and closes the container. She then get up. I finish too then I close the plastic container. Chloe reaches for me. I grab her and she pulls me up. She puts an arm around me. I lean against her. "We'll go dress shopping next week, but I don't want to see your dress." Chloe says. "But where are we going to go?" I ask. "To Tucson. We'll ask your brother if he wants to take us. We all go together." She says. "Okay."

   We make our way towards the bench. Chloe lets go of me and puts her container in her backpack. She picks up her backpack and then mine. When she does that I expect her to hand me my backpack, but she doesn't. She puts her arm around me again. I don't hesitate. I feel safe when I'm in her arms. We then start walking towards the entrance of the garden.

   Once we get out she gives me a kiss and soon after the bell rings. She hands me my backpack. We then go out separate ways. I stand in the middle of the concrete path look out towards her. She look back at me. I wave at her, she smiles and waves back. She then looks forward so she doesn't fall. I make my way towards my fifth period.

   Fifth period is alright today. We're watching a video about jets. I'm not really paying attention. I'm working on a worksheet for my chemistry class. It's pretty easy. I look up occasionally to see if everyone is alive. A few people here and there are asleep, but it's okay. I'm pretty sure they'll just tell each other the answers for the quiz about the video. A few minutes later I finish the worksheet then put it back in my folder. Then, the bell rings.

   After sixth, I head towards the ROTC room. I look around and then I see Chloe. She's wearing her black tank top. I make my way towards her. As I approach her she notices me. She puts her backpack down and opens her arms. I jump into her arms. She holds me tightly, but I notice something. She's having trouble breathing. She's trembling. Chloe then holds me tighter. "Hey are you okay?" I look up at her. She doesn't respond. She then says "Yes I'm fine." I look at her eyes. "If you want we can go home if you're not feeling well." I say. She shakes her head for no then lets go of me. "As soon as the practice is over I'll head out. Okay?" I say to her. She just nods. "Be careful okay?" I say. She nods again. I watch her make it towards the garden. Once she gets in I go into the ROTC. I look around. People are either playing cards or just simply fooling around.

   Once we know what we are doing, we head down towards the field. People are trying to figure out we're doing. I'm just standing on the grass. I'm not really focused. I'm really worried about Chloe. I look around and I see a blue butterfly pass by me. It then makes me feel better. I know Chloe will be alright.

  After practice, I grab my stuff and head towards the parking lot. I see Chloe in the truck. She's on her phone. I make it and I knock on the door. She reaches over and unlocks the door. I get in and put my backpack in the back seat. I then close the door. "How are you feeling?" I ask looking towards her. She starts up the truck. "I'm okay. I'm still alive." she says then looking towards me. I look down. She then grabs my hand. "I'm okay." she says. I look at her and I say"Okay."
