Magnus

I wait with Madzie, Maia, and Simon.

The employees were supposed to come get the people that Mr. Lightwood was to talk to.

A few seconds later, we hear a knock on the door.

I actually am sort of excited -maybe not excited- more like, intrigued.

I quickly stand to get the door, but the workers are already on their way in.

Anyone ever teach them manners?

Well- if they work for Maryse Lightwood, I can't say I expected anything special.

Before I can speak, the largest man starts talking.

"Maia Roberts and Simon Lewis- Mr. Lightwood would like to speak with you now."

The two didn't look a bit surprised, maybe a little annoyed.

Then he turns to Madzie and I.

"You two are next."

I let out a almost nonexistent sigh of relief.

"Hear that Madzie?"

I pick her up and sit her on my lap.

"Alexander Lightwood wants to talk to us!"

She lets out a giggle and hugs me.

This poor kid. If anything ever happened to her- I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

I pull her against my chest and take a deep breath in.

"Mag- I can't breathe," she says and I release her.

I set her down next to me, assuming she was joking.

She lets out a small little wheeze, and I realize she wasn't.

"Madzie?"

She doesn't reply and keeps coughing.

I pick her up and burst through the door.

"Help!" I shout, "Somebody! My daughter!"

I catch the attention of one of the guards, who quickly makes her way over and scoops Madzie from my arms.

I could tell that something about this wasn't right. Maybe it was the way the guard held the young girl- that I could tell she knew what would happen.

"My name's Lydia- I'm going to help you," she gestured for me to follow her.

We walk through the courtyard and into a remote part of the building, and into a large room with the words

SECTOR 5 DISEASE CONTROL FACILITY

From what I've seen in movies- this is probably bad.

"Wait- you're not taking her away from me?"

"We'll see what we can do," Lydia answers.

"You can't take her away from me!"

"Sir- it isn't my place, you'll have to ask the people in here."

I scan the room- every inch of it metallic and sterilized.

Four people (who I could only assume were doctors) with hazmat suits on were already moving in close to Madzie.

I can feel people trying to take me away from her- and I try to fight them.

"I'm the only person she has left!"

Those were the last things I said before she was ripped away from me.
