"Loves a strange thing."

All her fears came alive as she walked down the ancient hallways of the castle.

Only minutes ago, Alexei had left the castle with his army of soldiers and now it was up to her to protect the castle and everything and everyone in it.

Cat stormed through the doors of the officials room, trying to ignore all the men protesting.

She knew that they didn't se ever as an equal but for now that didn't matter. What mattered was that they had to help and protect the thousands of people that depended on her in the palace.

"Who the hell do you think you are coming here? Princess we have a war to fight and no time for your foolish actions or thoughts," one man dressed in snake leather, with a cigar in his mouth called out.

Cat took deep breaths before turning towards to address the incompetent men in the room.

"I am not your Princess. I am your Queen. And while you may not respect me, you must learn your place in the system. Do not forget that I can take you down with a few matters of orders," Cat said sternly, her voice growing graver.

She paced down the small length of the makeshift stage.

"While the King has gone to join the fight on the front, we or should I say, I am in charge of keeping the castle protected. No doubt they will attack here but we must show our strengths and resilience. Help me achieve what the purpose of this monarchy is, and that is to help and protect the citizens no matter the circumstances," Cat said, barely having to yell as the room had grown quieter and everybody was listening.

She didn't wait for anyone as she hopped off and walked towards the giant map of the castle.

She was glad to see that some of the people had followed her.

"I need all the blueprints of the castle, block off any possible entrance that the enemy could take, evacuate the refugees into the basement part near the servant quarters. It's the safest down there."

"Double the guards around, lock all doors and create a barrier. And most importantly I need constant updates on how the shield is holding up. If the shield goes down, then we are in grave danger ," she rattled off all the possible important orders she could think of.

Crossing her arms, she looked around at the men. Some seemed ashamed of their actions, some couldn't care less but she herself could careless.

Cat turned around to walk away but stopped when she remembered something.

In long confident steps, she walked towards the man dressed in the atrocious and inhuman snakeskin and sucker punched him right in the face.

"Your misogynistic ways won't get you far in life."

The refugees were in the basement safe. The maids and other workers with them.

The soldiers stood in uniform, ready for attack outside the castle, waiting on the commander.

Cat had spent the last two hours comforting some of the refugees, mostly young children with no one.

It was heartbreaking to see how terrified they were.

But now it was just the waiting game. The enemy had yet to arrive and all it did was build up the fear underneath.

She walked down the hallway before turning into the big conference room. It was filled with officials and commanders, on the phone trying to get intel.

"Have we gotten any news?" Cat asked.

"Not anything yet. It has been silent on their side," one of them yelled out. Cat didn't know if she should be worried or relieved. Either way, it was a worrying thought.

These days she was aching to find some good news.

Suddenly they heard a loud sound, as if a bomb had been dropped. Almost everyone ran up to the large windows to find out what had happen. Cat fought to get the view.

Cat could only think of one word. Destruction.

Many of the small buildings, surrounding the castle, were rubble now. The large cement blocks with a strange dust covering them was a sight to see.

From far away you could see the enemies men approaching, some in werewolf forms, some in vampire forms, leprechauns, sirens and faeries were just some of them.

The attack was just an distraction from the real fight. It was staged. The real fighting would occur here and it made sense. The enemy, Kalij, wanted to take down the castle as it was the head of the werewolf monarchy.

Cat backed away from the large windows in horror as the sick realization came to her. She was going to be sick.

"Someone get me in contact with the King, give the army outside the go to fight, call any other force left and most importantly suit up," Cat yelled, trying to create some type of order in this chaos.

The men ran to do their specific jobs or to get in to gear, anything to keep their minds off the horror that would take place.

She ran to her room, trying to grab a big black box. Opening up to reveal the black and silver armor that Alexei had ordered for her, she took it out to wear it.

It was magnificent but something she thought she'd never had to wear.

The chains glistened in the light from the chandelier, the steel breastplate only adding glamour to it. It was made to fit her like a glove, the spandex like black material only adding to the rebel vibe.

Slowly and delicately she put the armor on, pulling on the black gloves. She hoped that her training would help her, the countless hours at the gym and boxing and of course training with Alexei.

Realizing she didn't have much time, Cat ran back to the room to realize that everyone had gathered around the table.

She rushed in, "My Queen we finally got in contact with the King."

Cat let out a sigh of relief before rushing toward the table and grabbing the phone. She clutched it tightly, curling her fingers around the receiver, just the sound of his breathing calming her down.

"Can everyone leave for a moment?" She asked sternly, keeping her gaze at the men in front of her. Reluctantly they all left, closing the door behind them.

The big silent room only added to her fear, only made it that more real.

Cat took a deep breath.

"Alexei, listen, it was all a diversion, a distraction. They're attacking the castle at full force, I-I don't know what to do. There's so many of them," she whispered in the receiver.

She heard Alexei take a sharp intake of breath. "Yeah we realized it when we turned up to the scene and nobody was there. The fucking fools got us."

Cat could imagine him running his hand through his hair and across his hair in frustration.

"I don't know what to do Alexei. There's so many of them, the soldiers outside are giving their best. But you took the warlocks with you, how will we stand a chance against the rest of the magical creatures?" Cat inquired.

Just hearing Alexei breath or talk calmed her down but she still needed a plan.

"Baby, like I said don't doubt yourself. You know the military strategies, you have all the resources at your hand. And most importantly you're a strong women, we're already on our way back. It'll take us a good two more hours but I promise I'm coming," he said, his voice filled with hope and confidence.

Cat spent the next few minutes talking him through some of her ideas but soon it was time to go as the knock on the door indicated.

"I have to go, come back to me."

Alexei sighed and answered, "Good luck, I have faith in you."

But before she could let Alexei hang up, she had to say one last thing.

"Oh and baby, I love you too."
