The Iraninan embassy had its days when it ruled Embassy Row. But every great empire eventually comes to an end. Iran fell due to their own greed, and their embassy remains in the middle of Adria's waters as a lesson to other embassies.
But no one was to go inside. It became a No Man's Land. If anyone is caught, serious consequences await them.
One slip could make the embassies all fall down.
"We're here."
The girls stood at the entrance of the Iranian embassy. Reinelle and Lalynn were the only ones comfortable walking in there.
Reinelle followed behind Lalynn, the other girls hesitantly trailed behind. Lalynn picked a spot in the middle of the embassy that was close to the nearest exit. She threw her backpack down and pulled out some papers and supplies.
"Okay," she said. "Reinelle, you got the box?" Reinelle nodded and put the box down in front of everyone.
"So far, it seems like basic everyday phrases that everyone in Adria knows hold the real messages behind them. Like the Lost Treasure of Adria? The meaning behind that was that the real treasure was a person," Kayla stated. The girls agreed.
"And you said there's a room in Ka Rena? And tunnels?" Misaki asked. Reinelle nodded.
"I think the documents might be in there," Reinelle said.
"We need someone to gain Elise's trust. I think I should do that. If I act like I have no idea about her orders, keep visiting her, things like that, she might grow close to me. If I gain her trust, she might reveal some things that could help us," Reinelle said.
Lalynn snapped her fingers. "Yes! That's a good idea. We need someone to do some research online, though. Misaki? You're a techie."
Misaki shrugged. "Sure. But what do you want me to do?"
Lalynn said, "I think we need to do more research in the database. Embassy Row has a really tight security system, but if you could get a few minutes in Mrs. Li's room . . ."
"Yeah, I could do that. Once I get through the security, what do you want me to research?"
Reinelle spoke up this time. "I'm pretty sure the database keeps a record of all the calls ever made in Adria starting from 1990. We need to search in 2005's records." Misaki already knew that 2005 was the year Laura and Rebecca died. She nodded in understanding.
"Lalynn and Kayla'll be the fighters. But that's only if things come to that." Hazel laughed. Lalynn and Kayla smiled.
"Hazel," Reinelle continued. "You're good at sneaking into places. If we ever need to sneak into a place, which I'm sure we will, can we count on you to do the job?" Hazel nodded.
"Sure can!"
Kayla spoke up. "I feel like we should keep an eye on Lexi."
The girls turned to stare at her. "Why?" Lalynn asked.
"Because! You know how nosy that little . . . You know how nosy she is!"
"True dat," Lalynn said. Reinelle looked at Misaki and Hazel. They seemed to agree with Kayla.
"Well. If you guys really think it's necessary--"
"It is!" the girls shouted in unison.
"Alright, alright. Keep your voices down," Reinelle said. "If we really need to, I think I know the perfect person for the job."
"Who do you have in mind?" Misaki asked. The girls leaned forward eagerly to hear her answer. Reinelle only gave them a mischievous grin.
"Our friend from the United States of America."
