I had Maths next, so I picked my books out of my locker and made my way towards the jumbled mess, this school likes to call hallways.

They really need a signboard for all these ways, I am still struggling with this shit.

Finally making it into maths class, I sat on the fourth bench and took out my book. This is the only class I pay attention to, as luck and swallowing the facts and information won't help me here. I need to at least understand one sum, the rest I can manage.

I don't have a strong dislike towards the subject Maths, like most of students. But that doesn't mean I love it's existence. It's kinda like my relationship with most people on earth.

I let out a breathe as my mind wandered towards James, I feel strangely happy and accomplished.

He wants to be my friend. Not just friend, my best friend. His taste is so bad that I literally want to bang my head in a wall.

Stupid, cute, gullible, handsome, jacket wearing, gay as fuck, evil fry eater and a lot more I don't know yet but he was my first best friend.

I didn't realized I was grinning, before I felt an unfamiliar pain in my jaw for smiling too much.
Damn, I am way more into this friendship.

Call me corny, if you will. I will end you however.

"Um... dictate me if I am wrong, but you are the striker right?" A guy with curly golden hair asked me.

Lillian Taylor, the twin of Julian Taylor. Huh, even their names rhyme. Julian should be proud of me, I remembered his description. With curly golden brown hair, a structured face and full pink lips, Lillian Taylor looked the definition of heath breaker. But that awkward smile on his face tells me he doesn't enjoy making someone's life miserable.

But then again I could be wrong.

Looks like the captain is back from his little trip, he was absent both the times at practice. I only saw the glimpse of him when I went to talk to the coach while joining the school. He was practicing with the rest of team.

"Yes, I am Nora Timberlake." I said, pushing my book aside.

"Yeah, I knew I saw you the day before I left. I am Lillian Taylor, I play the defensive mid field."

"That's cool. You're the captain too, right?" I asked, studying his face.

He seems bashful for a second, ducking his head a little bit, he said, "Yes ma'am! I am the captain, but that's only because our previous striker, Zara got into a university."

Cute.

I smiled, "Don't be so ashamed of what you probably deserve."

He just smiled in my direction before nodding, "I will keep that in my mind. Hey, is this seat free? Would you mind if I sit here?"

"Sure, why not?" I said just as the teacher entered the class.

Aren't I being a social butterfly? Dad should be proud of me.

"Julian is your twin brother right? You guys look nothing alike." I observed.

A flicker of smile passes his face as he said, "Yeah, even our habits aren't the same. He is on advance maths and a perfect little genius. While I get nothing better than average marks."

Even though his words would sound jealous coming out of anyone's mouth, I detected a sense of pride. His eyes sparkled with a genuine enthusiasm while talking about his brother.
I smirked, "He is in advance class, while you are here, stuck with me, eh?"

He smiled and there was something of sincere in his eyes, "No, you are cool to hang out with. Plus, better you than the nerds who just make me look like a dumb jock, which I am."

I shrugged, "What's wrong with being dumb, if you are getting a scholarship in an Ivy league university?"

"That's all soccer. It's the only thing I am good at."

I snorted, "Julian and your teammates have called you a 'golden boy' on more than one occasion."

"They like to exaggerate and nowadays manners are taken as charms. I am just polite and they tease me about it." He said.

"Well I agree with them, you are definitely the golden boy of East Lake." I said, smirking his way.

"Nora... Fine then, be a hater. May you got eaten by an alligator or something." He huffed. I grinned, how childish of the captain of East Lake.

"Aw... How cute, Lillian." I went to pinch his cheeks but he slapped my hand away.

"Oh. I am sorry. I don't... Are you hurt? Want to go over to the nurse office? Is it hurting?" He said, panicking.

I laughed out loud, this guy was fun to mess with. A little bit like James, but James was a hell lot smarter and James don't coddle me.

"Chill dude, you just slapped my hand, not like you hit me. If you had, then we would have a problem." I ruffled his hair and smiled.

"Sorry for over reacting, it's just as kids, I used to hit Julian playfully and he would get hurt." He said, scratching his head.

I shook my head and my smile widened, "I get it."

The teacher looked at us disapprovingly for talking, but didn't stopped us. She went on teaching the class, when barely anyone paid attention to her.

I felt bad for her.

"You want to join me and the team for lunch at our table tomorrow?" Lillian asked.

"Thanks for the offer. But I am sitting with James, I am not sure if he would like to move to your table." I said, shaking my head.

"James? As in James Elliot? So you are the mystery girl that people can't stop talking about since I got back. Apparently, you are the first girl he was seen with, save from his mother and sister of course." He said, lowering his voice a bit.

"Why? Don't people know he is gay? I mean- Gay like happy not being in a relationship and such shit?"

My eyes widened and heart beat quickened, when I realized that maybe many people don't know about his sexual preference.

He laughed, "Calm down, I am not homophobic, far from it actually. And James was never in closet. First day of high school and everyone knew he is gay."

I exhaled softly, I almost had a darn heart attack.

"But I guess, people are just gossiping junk, James is your friend, right?" He said, an uncertainty behind his words, like he was almost dreading the answer.

I smirked, "No." He frowned, opening his mouth but I cut him off before he can say something. "He is my best friend, every girl needs a gay best friend, eh?"

He looked relieved. Interesting, am I seeing what I want or this is real?

"Yeah." He said, before turning towards the teacher.

I smirked internally and turned too, I think I know something about the Golden Boy.

A/N:
Thoughts?

Do you liked Lillian? I would have put in a photo of him, but I want you all to imagine him, Nora, James and everyone as you like.
