"well who's this little cutie?" jack bent down seeing lyla.

"i'm lyla!" she giggled at him, she must be feeling a little bit better.

"well, it is very nice to meet you, lyla. i'm jack" jack smiled at her.

"mommy?" lyla said looking up at me.

"yes?" i said.

"is jackie my daddy?" she asked pointing at jack.

she does this to every guy i'm friends with and she meets.

but this time, she got it right.

"uh, we should get going, princess, if you want to come with me tomorrow" i said.

her eyes brightened, i promised her tomorrow i'd take her out to go shopping for new toys.

i was getting paid today, i did get paid. i only work on monday, tuesday, and wednesday's of the week and i'm off the rest.

right now, i'm trying to find a another job i can take so i can have money to spend for lyla.

it just, were, im not in a good place now and i'm trying to get there.

things have just been like this, they've been hard since taylor passed.

i'm trying though, i'm trying so hard for my little angel. for lyla of course.

she's all that matters right now.

"for lyla tomorrow. get me back whenever." my dad said handing me an envelope.

"thanks, dad. see you soon" i said.

he nodded. "well goodbye ly. i hope you feel better" my dad said hugging lyla bye.

"bye, bye grandpa, C" lyla smiled.

he smiled and walked back out.

"so, what's that?" jack asked.

"none of your-" he grabbed it from me and opened it seeing a stack of cash for lyla.

he looked at me.

"where are you living?" he then asked handing it back.

"i'm not telling you where i live." i stayed like he was crazy. "we have to go" i then said.

i picked up lyla and carried her to my car.

i buckled her in her seat and i drove us back to our home.

once we got home, lyla went to play with her toys in the living room as i tried to think of something to cook, but as you see, i'm short on money and don't really have it, so therefore i barley have anything.

then someone knocked on the door. who could that be?

i walked over to the door and looked through the little hole and saw jack.

how the-

how did he..

where did he..

who did he..

but i opened the door anyway. "jack, what are you doing here?" i asked him.

"i brought dinner" he said holding a box of pizza.

he may have just saved us.

i looked at him.

"oh wow" i muttered.

"can i come in?" he asked.

i moved. "right, yeah, sorry" i said and let him inside.

"so, where's your um husband? boyfriend?" jack asked.

i looked down for a minute. "um, i'm not with anyone" i said.

"then, who's is lylas dad?" he asked me confused.

"i was engaged, but he uh, he died.. last year" i said trying to change that topic.

yes, i'm going to tell him, i mean, i have to tell him but i just don't think right now is the right time to do that.

"i'm so sorry." he said.

"please, thanks.. for the food" i said.

"right, of course. i'm always here to help" he said.

"i appreciate that." i said.

"so you live here?" he asked.

"it's all i can afford so yeah, i know you're used to mansions but-" he cut me off.

"let me help you." he stated.

"what do you mean?" i asked.

"i mean, i-i kind of was talking to your mom earlier and she mentioned how you're having trouble with money and stuff, i'm sorry, im sorry" he said.

great, that's just great.

"i don't need your pity alright? i can handle this." i said.

"i'm not saying you can't, mya. i'm just offering to help you, if you need it." he said.

"did j ever tell you i called four years ago, a few weeks after you left?" i asked him curiously.

because i called him when i found out i was pregnant and jack johnson answered his phone so i told him to tell jack that i was pregnant because i didn't want to call again and he was really angry at me because i was pregnant but he did say he would tell jack but i just though jack didn't want anything to do with me or the baby but he seems totally clueless.

"no.. you did?" he asked.

"yeah, i did." i said.

"was it important?" he asked.

"yeah, actually it was, i just figured you didn't care, i thought he told you but it's fine, i've been alright without you" i said.

he looked at me now confused and i was about to tell him when lyla walked in saying she was hungry.

"here, i brought pizza" jack said smiling at her.

"yay, thank you jackie!" she exclaimed.

"i like the nickname" he smiled at her.

he took a piece out the box and put one on a plate for her.

"thank you" she giggled.

"you're very welcome, lyla." he smiled.
