"So you and Kai are a thing now?" Brittany asks.
"Yeah" I say shortly.
"You know mom is going to freakout when she hears that you are dating and you brought him along" she says seriously.
"She would freak out if she entered your room" I retort.
"You young one are full of fire" she says ruffling my hair.
"Hey! You are just a few hours older" I defend. Everyone treats me like I am way younger than Brittany, even Brittany thinks she is older than me. We are twins for goodness sake.
"Riley" she says seriously.
"How was living with dad?" She asks taking me back a bit.
"It was awesome, he was the most caring dad ever, although he didn't allow me to eat sweets. He was into racing" I say looking at the stars.
"Did he ever talk about me?" She asks. My dad was very secretive when it came to the topic of my mom, it's not a surprise that he didn't speak about Brittany. I once found him talking in his sleep about a Brittany. I just really thought it was his girlfriend or something.
"He was very secretive about you and Andrea. There's a room in the house though, I think it was our room. He never really allowed me to go into it. I really don't know know what went on between mom and dad but it really left some scars on both of them" I say seriously.
"So are you sure about what is going on between you and Kai, don't you like Jace?" She asks changing the topic.
"Who said I like Jace? Besides aren't you and Jace a thing?" I ask inquisitively.
"We aren't, it's a no attachment type of thing" she says dismissively.
"Well I don't like Jace. I am with Kai" I say shortly. I get up from where Brittany and I were lying.
"Wanna go for a spin?" I ask.
"It's not like I have anything better to do, everyone is sleeping anyways" she says holding her hand out. I hold it and pull her up. We get into the audi we rented for the holding and I start driving around the quite little town. By the time we come back to the beach house we are tired. It's really amazing how Brittany and I started getting close after the whole coming back home drunk thing.
I wake up pretty late the next morning and find everyone gone except for Jace, who is sitting in front of the computer and basically ignoring everything else around him. I go into the kitchen to make some breakfast and I find that the cupboards and the fridge are empty.
"Good morning to you too Riley" he says nonchalantly. He and I aren't on speaking terms. We can never be friends and have peace so I opted for being strangers.
"Hi" I say shortly. He stops whatever he is doing and looks at me. I just go past him and throw myself on the couch.
"So you are not going to talk to me?" He asks seriously.
"Why would I" I retort.
"I don't know maybe because I am the only person in the house right now" he says smugly.
"Just leave me alone Jace" I snap. He made it clear that I don't mean anything to him that night he fetched me from the forest. I accept that but I will not accept him playing around with my feelings. I get up from the couch to get myself a glass of water, Kai enters and with a bag of food.
"Hey, I bought you tuscan sausage and kale frittata" he says kissing my cheek. I hear Jace laugh a little in the background. I don't like Kale.
"Riley doesn't eat Kale" he says seriously.
"I do," I say looking at Kai and kissing him," thanks."
"Since when?" He asks seriously.
"Since a few weeks ago, it is really healthy" I say looking through the plastic bag in case I might find something else to eat because I really am not keen on eating Kale. Unfortunately I don't find anything other than the damn frittata which is staring me right in the face.
"Are you sure?" Jace asks.
"Yes, Jace" I say icily and take it out of the bag and cut out a piece and put it on a plate. I take a fork and sit on one of the bar stools and look at it wearily.
"Are you sure you are going to stomach that CP? I can get go and get you something else" Kai says noticing my discomfort.
"Umh I think I'll be fine" I say giving him a small smile and planting my fork into the frittata. I take a piece and close my eyes before putting it into my mouth. I am not going to show Jace that he knows me more than my boyfriend does, I will not give him the satisfaction.
After a couple of bites I finally give up and drink a glass of water.
"So where is everyone?" I ask Kai who is also digging in on the frittata.
"They went to see the town" he says tersely.
"You didn't go?"
"I didn't want to leave you behind, speaking of which let's go do our own exploring" he says getting up from his chair.
"Sure" I say excitedly.
"Jace are you coming?" Kai asks.
"I guess a little exploring won't hurt" he says looking at me and smirking. Great, as if having Jace on this trip wasn't bad enough, now I have to spend the entire day with him. Sometimes I don't like Kai's kindness.
"Great, let me go get something upstairs" he says going towards the stairs.
"Seriously, why didn't you go with Emil or Brittany?" I ask.
"I didn't feel like it dewdrop" he says shortly. He is definitely trying to rile me up, and I need to make sure that his plan doesn't work. I am with Kai, I really need to stop thinking about Jace and his attempts to ruin this holiday.
