Ezra woke up with a groan. "Mom!!!" He sat up in his bed. "Mom!!! I think the air broke again!"
Ezra's mom, Mira Bridger, came waking into her son's room. "Ezra, what is it?"
Ezra sighed as he got out of bed. "Mom, the air is broken. Again. Just listen."

Mira sighed. "Well, Ezra, you're just going to have to deal with it. You and I both know we're low on money. Paying bills and putting food on the table is my first priority. Now get ready for school."
Ezra sighed and closed his bedroom door. Mira went to the kitchen to prepare her son the best breakfast she could afford. She knew the air was broken. She woke up in the middle of the night to a terribly hot room.
Ezra came out with his backpack slouching off his shoulder. "Do I have to go to school?"
"Yes, Ezra, I'm afraid so," Mira said sympathetically. She put breakfast on the table.
"Thank you Mom," Ezra said and began to eat his food up.
"Maybe our neighbor could fix the air. After all, he's got all those tools and-"
"No way Mom. That guy's a creep! He never leaves his house and when he does he just mediates in the backyard!"
"Ezra, don't be so quick to judge people. Now hurry up, or you'll be late."
Ezra sighed and said goodbye to his mother. He went outside and hopped on his bike. He wished he could ride the bus to school, or even have his own car like the other students. They lived in the not so great part of town and going out on a bike didn't exactly make him feel safe.
He glanced at their neighbor's house. The place was just as run down as his own house. If not more so. What made his mom think he could fix their air?

Ezra arrived at school and put his bike next to the few other bikes. He swore every kid in high school was filthy rich and had their own car. He left his bike there with no lock like always. Hoping no one would steal it.
He made his way to his first class and passed the Amidala twins. He knew they were rich. They had no dad, just like him, but their mom worked on the city council or something like that. They lived in some nice penthouse, or at least that's what he heard other students talk about. No one actually talked to him about anything. He had no friends. He was just the poor kid at school. Luke and Leia were actually nice people from what he saw. They did a lot of charity work and whatnot.
Ezra sat down in his first class. It was the last day of school until summer break, and thank goodness. He only had one more year left of this awful place. He didn't expect there to be much work today. Mostly saying goodbyes and stuff like that.
Ezra didn't bother paying attention much of the day. Before he knew it the bell rang and school was over. Thank goodness. He left class and made his way towards the door.
"Hey, Ezra!"
Ezra turned around surprised. No one knew him.
"Ezra, come here!" It was Leia. What would she want with him?!
Ezra sheepishly walked towards Leia. "Uh, hi?"
"Hi! I've been trying to say hi to everyone I didn't ever really talk to throughout the year."
Ezra didn't know what to say. "Um, well hi!"
"Here's my number! Maybe we could hang out this summer!"
Ezra took the piece of paper. "I don't have a phone."
Leia smiled. "Well, here's my address."
Ezra then took that and watched Leia walk away. Well, he wasn't sure how to react to that. He walked out of school and went to get his bike. To his horror, it had been destroyed to pieces, and a note had been attached.
Get a life freak
Ezra had no idea who wrote it, but it hurt. He had no way to get home at all. He became very frustrated and took what was left of his bike and walked home. It took him nearly two hours. The whole time he was infuriated.
It was dark now, but he finally got to his neighborhood. He saw some girl painting graffiti on a fence. He knew his street wasn't great, but he didn't imagine it was a place where people would graffiti.
When he got to his house he threw his bike to the ground. He kept shouting how dumb his bike was and how horrible his life was. His mom came running out asking what was wrong. He just continued to pout and rant and went to his room.
Mira looked down at the bike and saw the note and went to see her son.
