He was dressed quite nicely; dark burgundy trousers, black, form fitting shirt, and a pair of pale, grey, canvas sneakers. I looked down at my outfit; green peplum top, black leggings, and moccasin flats. He had already settled himself by the time I returned my gaze forward. Our eyes connected before both of us averted our gazes to the floor, pink dusted our cheeks. This encounter would end up quite awkward.
We talked over coffee, mine being a ordinary hazelnut coffee, while Chris settled with the same. Both being of the timid nature, it took some time to test the waters. However, we were soon interacting with each other without tension or hesitation.
Genuinely intrigued, I asked him many questions, staying away from any of a personal standpoint. He shared his experiences with being misunderstood and overlooked, as did I, and it seemed as if we both could relate at a significant level with one another. I could swear that possibly our heart beats were in sync.
Ending the 'date' short, Chris was needed back home to attend his home, but before leaving, he turned on his heel, smiling his boyish smile. He talked more than during the time they shared, "Lexie, thank you for this time we have shared. I have wanted this for too long. Someone who will listen and not push me away; someone who truly understands and doesn't judge upon outer appearance."
He winked before leaving me to smile like an idiot. I had gotten him to show his true self, what he was hiding from everyone. Until now, which is exactly what I wanted. We would definitely meet again.
