" Hello Cara. It's time we talked about your future duties, and being the God of Death".
This man was speaking to me, but my mind went blank. I couldn't move my lips to scream.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I forget I had you frozen too"
With a snap of his fingers my muscles relaxed instantly. I let out a breath that I didn't even know I was holding.
"Wh- who are you" I gasped out still trying to catch my breath.
"Let me introduce myself again. I'm Ben,God of Death." He smiled a little, and tipped his head toward me.
"God of Death? What the hell is that suppose to mean?" I sputtered out, trying to keep my distance from him.
He looked at me a little confused by what I said.
"Umm, well dear, I don't know how else to put it. I'm the God of Death, maybe you heard of the reaper. Some people call me that, but that's just too dark for me."
Here I am with my friend frozen in time, and some old guy telling me he is the freaking God of Death! And now he is worried on how he is addressed.
" Cara, I know this is a lot to take in, but there are some things we need to talk about."
" What things do you need to talk about with me? I'm just a highschool girl, living a normal life. What does Goth Santa Claus have in stored for my life?"
He looked at me for a bit, then suddenly fell into laughter. What was up with people laughing at me today?
"What's so funny? You think stalking a girl is hilarious? You creep."
I could not only feel my anger rising, but my fear as well. Whatever this guy had in stored, I didn't want to be here and find out. Looking up I watched him wipe tears from his eyes, from his little fits and giggles frenzy.
"Oh nothing dear" he said, wipping tears away, " All these years in the business, and not once have I been called a Goth Santa Claus"
"Okay who cares what people call you. What I care about is your business with me? "
That's when his shoulders seem to sag a little due to some invisible weight. He took in a deep breath, taking another step closer to me. He flipped up his cane, tilting the top to point to me.
" You, Cara Lee Burns, will be my apprentice, and soon take over my place."
"Wh-wha-"
My words were fumbling out of my lips before I could even form them. First this man freezes time, claims he's the God of Death, and now I have to take his place! What is even going on? I was a few seconds away from a mental breakdown of a life time when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
I look up to see Goth San- I mean Ben staring at me with slight pity in his eyes.
"Cara" he began," I know this is a lot to digest, but we need to go. There are too many things that I need to teach you, and there are too many people that you need to meet. So please dear work with for now, and I promise I'll explain everything to you"
He stopped, giving me some to wrap my head around everything he said. The first thing that my brain was able to process was the part that I needed to leave.
Taking a step back, the idea that Ben had to take me away was becoming more of a reality. The worst part was that I didn't even know where I was going.
" I can't just leave. What about my friends, my mom, my life? You didn't even tell me where?"
"Look around you Cara" he opened his arms gesturing to everything frozen.
" I'll be able to explain everything to you, and still get you home by dinner"I looked at my friend's rigid body wondering how I ended up here. Today was just suppose to be like any other day. I would take Jason's notes, eat my muffin, take more notes, eat lunch, and then go home. That's it. But today some old man dressed in black comes to me telling me that he is the God of Death and I'm #2. I brought my attention back to Ben, deciding my words carefully.
" Fine. I'll go. But you still haven't told me where we are going."
That's when Ben's constant jolly Santa vibe went down a little.
" We are going where all the other Gods hang out" he said while turning his back to me, and walking to the doors.
"There are more Gods?"
"Don't forgot about the Goddess."
Great. Now he's poking fun of me.
"Wait" I said, trying to catch up to him. " You still haven't told me where we are going."
He stopped mid-stride , making me nearly run into him.
"Lets just call it Mount Olympus for now"
With that he opened the school doors, presenting a beam of bright light coming from the other side. I had to shield my eyes just to make sure I didn't go blind.
" Well dear what are you waiting for?" He then proceed to step in to the light without a second thought.
" I freaking hate Santa Claus", and with that I stepped into the light.

This chapter took longer to write then the others. I had trouble deciding on how to write this since it gave the most background so far. Don't worry though the next one will be a little more fun. Once again I hope you enjoy 😊
