If you think you're special, chances are you probably aren't. You want to be famous, you want to be talented, you want to have superpowers... There's so many people in the world who believe they're different in a way, and yeah, you could be, but you're not particularly special.

I think I'm different enough to consider myself as special.

That's what I think to myself on the bus to school. There are these students who want attention so much. I don't believe that's a bad thing, but it irritates me for some reason. I've spent most of my life laying low. I don't try to attract people's attention, but if I tell them what I can do, well... I'm sure it'll end terribly.

I can freeze time.

I hate that I can. I found out about this ability of mine a long time ago when I was in elementary school. I was so confused and scared. I had a panic attack. What would you think if everything stopped for a few minutes?

I've experimented and found out what I can and can't do. There's pretty much nothing else I can do other than freeze time. There is a limit, however. I can hold it for about... 10 minutes? Yeah. That sounds right.

Other than that, I use time travel for good and only when absolutely needed. I can't really do much anyways because I can only freeze time for a little while. I'm no Doctor Who.

I'm pulled out of my thoughts when we arrive at our high school. I walk through the halls and hear gossip about some new kid that's transferred here from Los Angeles. I don't catch his name. I think it starts with a B. Maybe Brandon.

All the girls are already fawning over him. I haven't even seen him yet. I want to, considering how everybody is describing him.

~~~
I have now seen him.
It's almost the end of the day, so at least I have one class with him. He sits a few rows in front of me.
I learned a few things. His name is Brendon, and the rumors about his good looks are true. We glanced at each other a couple times, but that was about it.
"Care to join the class, Dallon?" Our teacher asks, staring down at me. I sheepishly nod and avert my attention to the lesson.
The class groans. There is no lesson. We have a test today. The papers are passed and we get to work filling in our answers.
I'm halfway through the test when I notice that time has stopped. What the hell? I didn't do anything this time! I begin surveying my statue-like classmates.
That's when I notice movement a few rows in front of me.
Brendon is cheating on his test.
There's a look of horror plastered onto my face. I see him leaning over someone's desk and copying their answers. Was he the one who stopped time?
"Hey!" I yell.
Brendon looks back with a shocked face. "W-why are you not frozen?"
