Restless from worry and stress, Selena and Cassiopeia woke early. They each slept well, due to the excitement and exhaustion of the day before, but the nerves of being sorted into rival houses woke them up early, as they both desperately wanted to see each other before their first day of school.

Unknowingly, they got ready for the day simultaneously. Wake up, stretch, brush teeth, take a hot shower, brush hair, and get dressed. Routines complete, they each slung a school provided bag over their shoulders, which was enchanted with an undetectable extension charm. Or at least, that's what the Prefects told the different houses. A useful way to transport all their school textbooks and supplies.

They each traveled to the Great Hall, one climbing up from the cold dungeons and the other climbing down from the tall tower.

Cassiopeia arrived first, as the Slytherin common room was a bit closer to the Great Hall than Gryffindor Tower, and she sat down at her house table, waiting for Selena to inevitably arrive. The Great Hall was quite empty, and besides a couple of teachers seated at the High Table, there were only a few students out and about. Sitting down, she placed her bag beside her and reached for a banana.

Minutes later, Selena arrived. Scanning the Great Hall, she spotted the tell-tale dark curls and waves wrapped into a loose bun, many curls springing out. With a toothy smile, Selena snuck up on her friend, and flung her arms around Cass's neck.

"Hi, Moon." Said Cass immediately, turning around to see her short friend.

"Hey! How was Slytherin?" Said Selena worriedly, "was everything alright?"

"Yeah, and I made some friends, too! Emily and Malcom, they should be down here soon... and me and Emily are dorm mates!"

"That's great!" Said Selena, taking her seat by Cass at the Slytherin table. "Who else is with you two?"

"What'd you mean, who else? There's only two per room." Said Cass, confused.

"Really? I'm bunked with three other girls. Hermione, and two girls named Lavender and Parvati. You're lucky." Said Selena. "But it should be fun anyway. They all seem nice."

"Yeah. When are Ron and Harry getting down here? I was kinda hoping I'd get to talk with them..." said Cass, nervously, as she wasn't quite sure on her current standing with the Gryffindor boys. Especially Ron.

"That's probably not the best idea..." Selena said, rubbing the back of her neck.

Cass looked at her friend with an accusatory look. "Selena, what did you do? What happened?"

"Okay, so here's the thing." Selena began. "After the feast last night me, Harry, and Ron headed up to Gryffindor tower. Along the way," Selena continued, tone getting annoyed, "Ron decided it would be fun to start poking fun at you and Slytherin." She scoffed."

"Said some b.s. about how 'at least we found out you're a bad seed as soon as possible' and that it 'sucked that I trusted you so much just to have it ripped away from me' and some other trash like that." Selena said, rolling her eyes. "So, rightfully, I knocked him in the eye. Needless to say, we are no longer friends."

"Moon!" Cass scolded. "I mean— you just punched him?" She said, laughing in disbelief.

"What?" Selena exclaimed, getting riled up. "You know you would've done the same for me, right? Besides, the twins told me Ron just acts like an ass sometimes. He'll get over it. And if not, then who cares?"

"Wait, the twins told you that? Fred and George? They still like us, even after you punched Ron?"

"Nah, he was really being a git. Everyone seemed to think so, even Harry didn't really side with him. Besides, after that, the twins told me they had better keep us on their side. Something about not wanting to make enemies with a Slytherin and a protective Gryffindor."
