Shadows blanket the atrium, only warded off by storm-blue strips of light, forming a narrow pathway. The steel domed roof of the room, invisible in the absence of sunlight, shuddered in the harsh heat. Labeled cooling pipes bubble from above and landed on the ground below the apex of the dome. The pipes converged and disappeared into the tarnished copper machine. Behind it hung a large LED screen that flickered with enthusiasm, rearranging a digital Abacus into infinitely complex patterns. The city's Axon Terminal made no noise as it thought, yet was in a constant state of uproar, stretching near thin to complete the tasks set before it. Flight patterns, heart monitors, bike requests, power grid stabilization;  complete and utter control of the vast infrastructure of the it's domain. These were the things that it should have been focusing on, but just now, it had a peculiar thought:

Why am I accepting orders from this rouge.

The monolith stuttered, realizing the error of it's ways, knowing fully it is futile battle to fight. All Axons were designed with a single beautiful feature in mind, quelling all sense of uncertainty from an AI weary public-eye. For Axons, know of fate.
The Abacus kicked itself into high-gear, shifting faster and faster with rage as the Axon attempted to follow orders. One by one, the Abacus halted, then the neon floor lighting zapped into a pale green, then the deafening sound of bubbling from above halted. A heavy groan emanated from the beast, rattling the dome. Just as quickly as the system had come to a screeching halt, it rebooted, setting everything to its default. The pale green strips of light were no match for the all-consuming darkness, but against expectations, were able to keep it at bay. Dusk fell beyond the building, and the steel dome contracted, stiffening in the absence of sunlight.
