The day of prom finally rolled around, bringing the grumpy clouds of rain with it. Ten sighed as he tightened his tie around his neck. It was golden to match Jaesoo's dress. Thinking of her caused a mixture of regret and happiness to erupt within him, his mind full of her as he buttoned his blazer. But she was going with Jiyong, not him. She was dressing up for Jiyong, she probably wasn't even thinking of him.

Jaesoo's eyes stared back at her from the mirror. Her golden dress floated around her beautifully. 'Would Ten like it?' was the first thing that went through her mind, her fingers tracing her hair. She shook her head, no. She was going with Jiyong. She had to continuously remind herself that. Something kept nagging her at the back of her mind, something was tugging her away from Jiyong. And that was the thought of her best friend, Ten. No matter how hard she tried to push it away, it seemed to cling tighter.

A sigh escaped her lips. Deep inside she knew Jiyong was a rebound for Ten, whom she had started liking last year. But she knew it was wrong, it was so wrong. She didn't want to ruin what they had, yet she feared it was already too late. "Jaesoo-ah!" Her mother's voice called from downstairs, causing her to jump as she was yanked out from her train of thoughts.

"Coming!" She called back, casting a last, hurried glance at the mirror before she walked down the stairs. Her eyes were met by Jiyong's scared ones as her father spoke to him.

"Jiyong!" She greeted the boy with a smile, quick to pull him away from her father's intimidating stare. "Bye." she waved before her mother could take pictures.

"Jaesoo, pictures!" She halted her daughter, taking more pictures than necessary, a proud smile settled on her face.

Eventually, she excused herself from her mother, who shook her head with a sigh.

"You look really good." Jiyong turned and smiled at her as they sat in his car, beginning to drive to the school.

"You too." she awkwardly responded, mentally facepalming. She couldn't see herself with him, no matter how hard she tried. He was too... calm for her, thoughts of Ten flickered through her head as Jiyong attempted to make conversation throughout the drive.

When the long drive finally came to an end, they had arrived at the auditorium. Upon entering, they were greeted with warm, yellow fairy lights decorating the walls, with sheer, glittery curtains draped here and there. It looked like a complete wonderland. Jaesoo's eyes glowed at the sight of it.

Ten, who had been there for five minutes already was boredly sipping on his juice before he saw her. His eyes widened like saucers as he choked on the juice. She looked ethereal. She was almost like a fairy tale character. As Jaesoo turned to look at Jiyong, he had already found some of his friends and was too busy talking to them.

A huff escaped her lips before she walked towards her next safe spot - the food table. Jiyong didn't even notice her absence, but Jaesoo's anxiety grew. The music was starting, and couples had begun to crowd the dance floor. More and more people seemed to be entering the room, making it hard to breathe. Jiyong had fit right in with another girl, his date forgotten. Jaesoo hated crowds and loud music, but she had hoped to have a prom dance. It was a goal of hers she had hoped to accomplish, but now it seemed impossible.

Before she could get too lost in her thoughts, a hand tapped her shoulder. A genuine smile played on Ten's lips, lighting up his features. "Would you do me the honour of joining me for a dance?" He dramatically asked, offering his hand to her.

She laughed, gladly taking it in her own, smaller hand. "I would love to."

They made their way to the centre of the dance floor, his hand fitting in hers perfectly, like a puzzle piece. They looked so natural together, like cheese and macaroni.

"Damn, I hate places like this." She whispered as they danced to the music.

"I know, me too." Ten hummed back, holding her close to him. "But I saw the bucket-list in your notebook." He smirked as her expression grew more flustered.

"Mean!" She laughed, her head resting on his chest now. She could feel his heartbeat, faster than ever. "Your heart's beating so fast, I think you're having a heart attack."

"Hey, so is yours!" Ten retorted, twirling her to the music, smiling smugly at the blush that had formed on her cheeks.

"Let's ditch this and get McDonald's." Jaesoo suddenly exclaimed, excitedly tugging him to the exit.

"I was waiting for you to say that." Ten breathed in relief, adoration in his eyes as he watched her. Everything was perfect, and no stressful thoughts could puncture his balloon of happiness. Everything else would be discussed later, right now, he was just happy to be able to live in this moment with her.
