I stared helplessly at the crumpled schedule clutched in my frustrated grip. For the past ten minutes, I've been trying to find my first class that had been elusive. I've been down this same hallway so many times, I lost count and didn't bother to start counting again. An irritated sigh dropped from my lips as I read the same room number- twenty-three- over and over again. The two digit number was just mocking me. My eyebrows furrowed as I could practically hear it laughing.
I was not expecting to be this frustrated when I started going to public school again. For the last seven years, I have been homeschooled while moving around, simply for the reason of my safety. Both my guardians and their friends thought it would be best for me to be taught at home by Jaehee (who was one of my guardians.) At a very young age, I was deemed to be very intelligent and it was easy for me to understand complex material. Even after being taught for the day, I would still enrich the material and study it for hours.
It was only a few months ago when they decided it was safe enough for me to finish my senior year of schooling at a normal institution of education. It took quite a while for my files to be processed, and after weeks of intensive testing, I was accepted into senior year at Seoul High School despite being only sixteen. When they reviewed my results, they said that they have never seen test scores that high for an entrance exam. They were more than glad to accept me.
At first, I was a bit hesitant about agreeing with the plan. It had been such a long time since I was in a classroom setting, I had almost forgotten how things work. Jaehee was kind enough to give me a refresher; it was obvious that there would be other students in the classroom, but I would need to raise my hand if I wanted to ask something or answer a question. She also added that uniforms weren't an everyday necessity, and at this school, it was only required on certain days. Both Jaehee and Min-hyuk told me that I would be fine; they say that I can adapt to new situations quicker than most. But I've never seen myself do it, or felt myself adapt to something new. Maybe it's unconscious? Honestly, I'm not even sure.
Before I could even look up from my schedule my entire body slammed into a wall. But when I looked up, it wasn't a wall. My lips only parties slightly, and an inaudible gasp fell as my eyes met a face. Brown locks fell over his hostile eyes, but his burning black glare pierced right through. His jaw was clenched tightly, the sharp bone of his mandible popping out. He easily towered over me, where I barely reached his shoulder. He could easily push me down if I angered him.
"Sorry," I apologized, crouching down to pick up my schedule that had dropped from my hands.
"Watch where you're going runt," he growled in a deep tone.
Runt? How harsh... I thought, a tsk snapping out of my mouth.
With my schedule in hand, I didn't bother to send a cold glare towards his direction. If I stood there any longer instead of trying to find my class, I would be late, and possibly scolded by the teachers. Walking around the aggressive person, my mind refocused on locating my next class. But as I tried to walk away, he tried to start something himself.
"Yah!" he snapped.
"Leave her alone Jungkook ah," a calm voice rationalized.
A relieved breath escaped as soon as someone mediated the situation. The last thing I wanted was the situation getting out of hand, and me having to do something that could have made things worse. But I caught his name during it, surely I would remember it and stay away from him. I would hate to think about what could have happened.Even after the bell rang, I still couldn't find my classroom. There was no doubt about it that the teachers would scold me for being tardy, despite being completely new to this experience. I'm not even sure if this is my fault or not. The secretary didn't give me any directions, or a map of the school. I was left to helplessly wander the halls just trying to find first period. I probably looked like an idiot wandering around the same hallway for almost twenty minutes. Well, what else could I do? I have no idea where anything is!
Stopping momentarily, I ran my hand through my short locks of hair. This was not how I wanted this day to start out; I just wanted to get into the class first thing in the morning and avoid any... Unwanted attention or interactions. Unfortunately, none of those things happened, and it was really getting to me at this point. I am seriously about to give up as of this moment. Before I could even kick in the bucket, a pair of heavy footsteps strode towards me from behind. I absolutely hated it when my own body turned around on its own, without me wanting it to.
The next thing I knew, I was picked up, and thrown over Jungkook's shoulder.
He ripped my schedule out of my hands and grabbed my bag before he picked me up. Jungkook started walking in the direction I came from, taking long, but steady strides. His big hand rested on the small of my back, while his built arm hugged my waist. As he threw me over his shoulder, my face hit his firm back and pressed my nose. Right behind him, two other guys followed, wearing mischievous smirks.
"Yah! Put me down!" I exclaimed, slamming my fists into his back.
Jungkook didn't answer verbally, only tightening his arm around my waist until my hip hit his ear. I could practically feel the stupid smirk on his face as his other arm held the back of my thighs. His palm cupped my left leg, his fingers pressing into my skin, making me yelp. I was hanging too low for me to elbow the back of his head, I had no choice but to only use my words.
"Put me down Jungkook!" I yelled again. "Yah! Tell him to put me down!"
His two friends only shrugged, shaking their heads back and forth.
"Sorry Babe, we have no control over what he does," the boy with the pink hair chuckled.
Jungkook chuckled deeply as well, I was able to feel the vibrations through his body. I shot them an ice cold glare, watching them shudder gave me satisfaction. But that feeling was soon wiped off my face when his arms disappeared around my hip and legs, and I came crashing down onto the floor. Within seconds, I slipped right off his shoulder, and he didn't bother to set me down gently. My entire body laid on the cold floor, a harsh sting burning through my entire left side. The wind got knocked out of me as well, and I silently took in gasps of air. I didn't even want to look up, I was too focussed on trying to steady myself.
"Room twenty-three," he said while dropping my bag in front of me, then turning on his heel before walking away.
