"Hi Jewels, can you please forward me the Vanderbilt portfolio." I said into the speakerphone.

"On it." She replied then the line went dead.

It was passed 11am and I had been off daydreaming all morning and barely got any work done. All I thought about was last night and the charming Asad Desai, he hadn't yet called or even texted. I felt like I was 16 all over again waiting on a guy to call.

Of course whenever my phone rang I jumped to pick it up and much to my disappointment it would be anyone but him. I actually felt pathetic, so in order to stop being ridiculous and obsessing over him not calling I buried myself in work.

My desk was filled with files and magazines. Two weeks ago, I scored one of the biggest accounts our firm has ever had, the Vanderbilt's annual winter gala.

A party in which Boston's elite attend to flaunt their expensive diamonds and designer attire. My family attends each year but this time I'll be working it instead, this was after I heard from Aunt Jen who is good friends with Lisa Vanderbilt that they had to fire their last event planner and well I used the connections that I had (Jen) to get the contract.

"Spotted: Our favourite hexed queen, Mikayla Hamilton out on a date with one of Boston's most eligible Bachelors, Asad Desai. Hope this means that she's fixing her trainwreck of a love life, Asad seems like quite the catch!"

I looked up from my desk to see a blue haired Easton standing in my doorway with a smirk on his face.

"So you went on a date last night huh." He closed the door as he walked in then threw himself onto the couch.

"Why do you even read Nikki?" I asked with a raised brow.

"Oh don't try to change the subject, who's the guy?"

"Just someone that happened to crash my date last night, long story short we hung out and he hasn't called yet." I shrugged.

"Well he's a douche then." He said as he threw his arm over his eyes.

"What brings you and your blue hair here anyway?" I asked.

Easton has been very experimental with his hair since we were kids as evidenced by his newly dyed blue hair, this experimental phase rubbed off on Kyle who was now sporting blonde curls, naturally eleven year old Sam wanted to try this out too but mom shut him down real quick.

"I think I'm in love Kay." He answered after a deep sigh.

I stood up from my desk and lay down on the plush carpet next to the couch, seconds later he joined me and we lay there looking up at the ceiling.

"Is it lame that we still do this?" I asked, arms folded over my stomach.

"Nah, it's our thing." He laughed as he poked my shoulder.

"Carpet Confessions" as we called it was a tradition in our family, well rather amongst us kids anyway. Whenever any one of us would have big news or just wanted to vent, we'd lie on the carpet and confess whatever it is we had to say, yes it was kind of corny but it was our thing and we still somehow had not grown out of it.

"So, what's up?" I asked.

"Her name is Olivia, we met at my album launch last month. She's one of the reps from the record label, she spent the whole evening basically ignoring me." He paused as if going back to that moment. "I then of course tried my best to get her attention anyway long story short we went on a couple of dates and I really like her."

"I'm sensing a but here." I said quietly.

"Yeah... The but in this case would be the fact that she's older."
