PART 2: THE VOICE

I threw the blanket off of me and went into the bathroom to get ready. When I walked out of the bathroom I glanced at the clock on my dresser "Huh?! 8:02!" I ran down the stairs and grabbed my bag by the door. "Alice, what about breakfast?" my mom said. "No time!" "I hope you get detention" my brother called. "Shut up!" I ran all the way to school. By the time I got there I was completely out of breath and sweaty. I tilted my head back "I'am so dead." There was a crow sitting on a branch in the tree above me. I sighed and walked into the school. The lunch bell rang. "What happened to you?" Alex asked. Alex has been my best friend since middle school. "I don't know" I wined. "So are we going to the Red Door after school?" I rolled my eyes "This town is so boring. There's never anything to do." I started talking louder without realizing. "Everyday it's the same thing, go to school, hang out and the Red Door go home go to sleep..." People started staring now. "Start all over the next day. Oh, and on Saturdays go to the cemetery and get drunk." Alex was trying to hide her face in her lunch while everyone stared at me. I looked around at everyone and slowly sat down in embarrassment. "Okay" Alex whispered "We can go to the movies instead. There's a new vampire flick." I stared at Alex and then gave in "Fine" I mumbled. You'd think a person who's never been late would at least get a warning. But I guess that's too much to ask for. Alex waited for me outside of the school. The sun was starting to set as me and Alex made are way to the theater. "I have to stop by Matt's" Alex says. I turned to Alex " What?! No!" I yelled. "What's wrong?" Alex asked. "If we go to Matt's he'll want to come." Alex looked at me confused. I rolled my eyes "You know he likes me." "That's right" Alex laughed "Kissy, Kissy." I glared at Alex. "Look, I need to drop this book off. Here, hide behind this tree and I'll go knock on the door, okay?" Alex walked up to Matt's door and I hid behind the tree in front of Matt's. A cold wind blew past me and I felt cold fingers brush my neck. "Hey" I turned around to see who touched me. I looked to the right and to the left, but the streets were empty. Caw-Caw. I gasped and quickly looked up. I sighed. "Get a grip girl it's only a crow." I whispered. Alex snuck behind me "Boo!" I gasped and Alex laughed. "Come on let's go." Standing in line for tickets I heard a whisper. I looked around but didn't see anyone beside's the people hanging outside the theater. The wind started to pick up and I saw a shadow move behind a tree across the street. I narrowed my eyes staring across the street. "Is something wrong?" Alex asked. "What? Oh, no" I smiled. "Come on" Alex said walking into the theater. Before going into the theater I turned and took one last look across the street. When I got home everyone was asleep. I walked up stairs and into the bathroom to take a shower. I wrapped a towel around me and walked to my room. I grabbed a pair of shorts and a sweater from my dresser and changed. I could feel a breeze and hear the branches knocking against my window. I walked over and shut the window before crawling into bed. A while after falling asleep the blanket slowly pulls off of Alice but she doesn't wake up. "Come with me" A voice whispers. "Come with me, and I'll show you a different world" My eyes open slowly. "Come with me...." "Huh?" I whispered sleepy. I felt fingers caressing my leg and I gasped. I started to shake and my heart was pounding. I shut my eyes tightly and prayed silently to myself. I didn't feel anything after a few seconds except the feel of cold air. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around the room. My body shaking and my heart pounding I sat up. I jumped hearing something knock together. I turned and saw the window open "What?" I got up and slowly walked over to the window. There was something laying on the floor. I picked it up "A feather?"
