When we pull up to the crime scene, Sherlock opens the door and gets out, striding towards the yellow tape nearby the police cars.
John sighs, taking out his wallet. "You go." He says to me. "Don't want him to get lost."
I open the door and get out, following him. I catch up with him right when he ducks underneath the yellow tape.
"Oh, the freak's here." A woman with dark curly dark hair announces, looking at Sherlock. It's clear she doesn't like him.
"Donovan." Sherlock returns, and it's obvious he doesn't really like her or care about her at all, walking past her.
She rolls her eyes at him and sees me. "Whoa, who's this?" She asks Sherlock.
Sherlock stops and turns around. "She's with me."
The woman looks at him in surprise. "With you?" She looks back at me.
"Colleague."
"Colleague?" She repeats, looking back at me. "Did he follow you home? He tends to-"
"I'm with him."
"She's...a consulting detective in training." Sherlock says, annoyed at her. "Sergeant Donovan, meet Katherine Harrison. Katherine, you have the pleasure to meet Sergeant Donovan." He says with no emotion. "You'll come to find that she can be incredibly dense at times."
"Consulting detective in training?" She looks at me. I nod. She heaves a sigh, rolling her eyes, clearly annoyed. "Fine." She lets me duck beneath the tape.
"Oh, here's Freak's flatmate," She turns to John who's also ducked beneath the tape. "Still not taking my advice, are you?"
"No." John shakes his hand.
"You two can go with him." She says, gesturing to Sherlock who's already walking to the building. John walks towards Sherlock and I'm just about to when I feel a hand on my shoulder. "Hey."
I turn back to her.
"You're not his friend." She says. "He doesn't have friends. So who are you?"
"A-"
"Consulting detective in training? I doubt it. Who are you?"
"I'm...nobody. I've just met him."
"Exactly what John said." She says to herself, then looks back at me. "I'm going to say the same thing to you that I said to John." She continues. "Stay away from that guy."
"Sherlock Holmes?" I ask. "Why?"
"You know why he's here? He's not paid or anything, he likes it. He gets off on it. The weirder the crime the more he gets off. Any you know...one day, just showing up won't be enough-one day we'll be standing around a body and Sherlock Holmes will be the one who put it there."
"And why would he do that?" I say.
"Because he's a psychopath, and psychopaths get bored."
"When you all stand around a body...why would Sherlock Holmes be the one who put it there? He likes to solve the mysteries."
"You never know, he could frame somebody." She pauses. "Even you." She takes her hand off my shoulder. "Take my advice and stay away from Sherlock Holmes."
I step back a step and then turn around to see Sherlock and John waiting for me, Sherlock staring at Donovan and I. I walk over to them.
"What was that all about?" Sherlock asks.
