"I Want To Go Home"
Why does it seem like we're constantly being fed the biblical definition of heaven? The heaven where we worship God everyday, the heaven where (if worthy) we are given crowns and robes, the heaven where we are treated like royalty. The heaven where there is no mourning or sorrows only adoration towards God. We hear all this great description of heaven, yet it seems like when it comes down to it, nobody wants to go there. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that our home? We should be excited, singing at the top of our lungs when asked if we're ready to go to heaven, the first thing that should come out of our mouth is "if it is God's will." And most will say "of course Earth is not our home but we were put on this Earth to evangelize and spread the gospel." Yeah that's true but it seems like the people who constantly say they're not ready to go to heaven yet are the ones who are doing nothing to advance the kingdom of God. So if you're not ready to go to heaven and you're not doing what God placed you on this Earth to do, won't you consider yourself a waste of space? No disrespect but we need to stop living for this temporary life on Earth and but instead for the everlasting future.
I understand to most people heaven equals death, and who wants to die? But if you would check John 3:16 it clearly says that once you have accepted God's gift of salvation there is no such thing as death, only everlasting life. Jesus took our place of death. And no, I'm not saying to spend everyday of every hour waiting to go to heaven, then you wouldn't be doing what God called you to do. All I'm saying is to live for the crown of righteousness by making disciples of many nations. Brothers and sisters we ought to know that this life does not belong to us. The One who gave you the breath of life could easily take it away with one word. Let's not find comfort in the temporary, but rejoice in the eternal. Rejoice in the thought of going to see your Father. Rejoice in the knowledge of your King sitting on the right hand of the Father. This world is not ours, our home is in heaven alone. Do not lay your treasure upon the Earth because they could easily rot, get stolen and/or become useless in the blink of an eye. But sons and daughters of God may we remember that the treasure waiting for us in heaven is far more greater in many ways. It's everlasting.
I can't wait to place my fingers in my King's hands and cry to Him about all the trials and tribulations I went through, I can't wait for Him to listen attentively to all my stories as if He didn't already know them since the beginning of time. I cannot wait to tell Him how sorry I am that He had to be a curse for me so I could be a blessing, I can't wait for Him to reply back with "For I so loved the world..." Maybe that's just me but falling down at my Savior's feet crying and worshipping Him is my true want and need in life.
Church, our goal on Earth is to bring more disciples to Christ, not members to church. We must not find comfort and become stagnant in doing nothing to bring glory to God's kingdom. We must look ahead at the prize awaiting us at home. We must be glad to join our Father at home. No I am not glorifying death, I'm charging us to be strong in speaking the gospel with the hope of great peace afterwards. I am not glorying death, I am glorifying eternal life.(Mark 16:15 )
