"Annie wake up! We have to get ready." Marquis said as she shook me awake. "Alright alright I'm up." I said sitting up in the bed.

"Happy birthday." We said at the same time. I smiled. "Alright I'm going to get ready. I'll see you in a few." He said hugging me before leaving the room.

I got up and took a quick shower. I combed through my dirty blonde locks. Mother always said I was the female version of my father.

I smiled to myself as I put my locket on. 'Maryanne.' I hear someone whisper. It's not my father or my brother.

"Who's there?" I asked. No one answered. I felt as if someone was watching me. "Who's there?!" I asked once again. Still no answer.

I went back to get ready when out of the corner of my eye I saw a boy about my age. He was just standing on the balcony. "Who are you? What do you want?" I asked.

"You know who I am Annie. Just try to remember." He said. "No I don't know now what do you want?!" I yelled. He put his finger onto my lips.

"All will be revealed in time my love." He said. My love? What was he talking about?! My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Annie. It's time to do dad is waiting downstairs. Who were you talking to?" Marquis asked. The boy was gone. Vanished into thin air.

"No one. I'll be down in a minute." I said as I went to put my shoes on. A million questions flashed into my head at once.

The boy did look familiar to me but I couldn't place him. But I must know him if he is calling me "my love". But where do I know him from? Where?

"Well it's about time." Marquis teased. Dad swatted the back of his head. "Be nice to your sister." He said. I stuck my tongue out at my brother.

"Annie." Dad warned. My tongue went back into my mouth. "Now I'm going to give you some rules to follow." Dad said right off the bat.

"Do not under any circumstances leave the city. Do not make yourself known to any human that is not your meal. And please be careful." He said.

"We will dad." Marquis said. "Be back here before 4 am." Dad said. We nodded. "Off you go." He said. I was the first one out the door.

I was ready to get out there and explore. Ever since mom disappeared he's barely let us out of his sight. I guess I can't blame him.

"You know he's only trying to protect us right?" Marquis asked. "I know that Marquis. He doesn't want something happening to us like it did mom. But we're 18. He can't always be around to protect us." I said.

We made our way into London. The city was alive with energy and light. I was eager to explore it. We walked around looking for someone to sink our teeth into.

We didn't get off on killing innocents like our father once did. We only took out criminals and bad people. You might could say we were doing this city a favor.

"Hey you wanna check out that bar? The Admiral's Arms?" Marquis asked. "Why not? This place is pretty much a bust anyway." I said as we took off into the night.

The place stunk of cigarettes and beer. Disgusting. Why did I let Marquis talk me into coming here? My brother can be very persuasive. There were other vampires there.

I felt them looking at us. They didn't approach us though. Instead they went up to this human woman. Red head. Her hair was up in two little tight buns on either side of her hair.

The vampires were hassling her about if she belonged to anyone. She finally said a name. "Marius."

"Isn't that the one who turned dad into a vampire?" I asked. "Yea I think so." Marquis said. I finally got tired of them messing with her so I said something.

"Hey leave her alone." I said. "Excuse me?" The male asked. "I said. Leave. Her. Alone." I said slowly so they could understand me.

They rolled their eyes and walked away. "Thank you." The woman said. "No problem. I hate bullies." I said sitting down beside her.

"My name is Maryanne and this is my brother Marquis." I said. "Hi I'm Jessie." She said. Cute name.

"Hey you wouldn't happen to know a vampire named Lestat would you?" She asked. I was taken back by that question.

"We not only know him he's our father." Marquis said. Why was she looking for dad? What did she want with him?

Jessie looked shocked. "I have to go." She said before getting up and leaving. I quickly followed her out. But I was quickly pulled into an alley.

"What are you doing here?" The figure asked. I recognized him. He was the one on my balcony earlier. "I could ask you the same thing." I said pushing him off of me.

"I thought you had better sense than to come into a place like this." He said. "And how would you know that? Have you been stalking me?" I asked angrily.

"No my love I have not been stalking you." He said. There it is again with the "my love" crap. "Why are you calling me that?! I don't even know your name!" I yelled.

"Asim." He said. "Well nice to meet you Asim." I said. "Likewise." He said shaking my hand. His tan skin glistened in the moonlight.

"So are you a vampire?" I asked. He chuckled. "Hybrid like you and your brother actually." He said. I've never met another hybrid.

"Really? I thought we were the only ones." I said. "I suppose you thought wrong my love." He said smirking.

"And what's with this "my love" stuff? We've only just met." I asked. He let out another chuckle. This must be a game to him. A sick twisted game.

"You see I have this gift. A gift that allows me to see the future." He explained. "Ok." I said.

"In the last few months I have the same vision. A vision of a hybrid with beautiful blonde hair and clear blue eyes." He said.

I'm a hybrid with blonde hair and clear blue eyes. He's been having visions about me! Oh. My. Gahhh!!!!

"So are you telling me that I am your vision girl?" I asked. "Yes that's exactly what I'm saying. Keep up love." He said.

Man this is one hell of a birthday!
