Thanks so much for all votes/fans/comments/reads! It really makes me happy to know people seem to be enjoying reading this as much as I'm enjoying writing it ^^.

After everyone finished their lunch, you parted with the group, telling them you wanted to go explore by yourself. You bid goodbye to everyone before heading off down a random path. You dug your hands into your pockets and tilted your head up to the sky as you strolled along. You smiled and basked in the feeling of the sunlight on your face briefly before returning your attention to where you were going. You didn’t exactly want to bump into anyone, after all, so focusing on your surroundings seemed like a good idea.
You wandered down your path aimlessly, smiling at the people you passed. Most of them smiled back, though a few did raise eyebrows at your friendliness. You knew it was probably a little weird; a new girl smiling at them, regardless of the fact they’d never met? Yeah, that wasn’t exactly the norm. You didn’t mind though; it was in your nature to be friendly.
After a few minutes of walking, you arrived outside the gym. You peered at the building, noticing it was very long but not all that high. You guessed it was only one story, so to fit everything in it would have to be long. You shrugged to yourself slightly before pushing the doors to the gym open and walking inside.
Immediately to your right was a door labelled ‘Girls’ and to your left a door labelled ‘Boys’. You guessed they were the changing rooms, but you ignored them for now. You walked through another pair of doors into what seemed to be the main room. Well, it was the only room through the doors. It was sectioned off into areas – ball courts, sparing areas, places for target practice and the like, as well as some work out stations.
You walked further inside, glancing curiously at one of the sparing areas. It was empty, but the walls were covered in weapons, ranging from swords to staffs, daggers to chakrams. You frowned slightly at the weapons, a little worried. You knew how to fight hand-to-hand – most people on your world did – and you had taken boxing and martial arts from a young age, as well as gymnastics, to perfect your very own fighting style. Still, you had very little experience with using any melee weapons.
You eyed one of the larger blades on the wall nervously before retreating and making your way to one of the places set aside for target practice. Here, you grinned. Archery was something you thrived in. Your father had always been a fan of it, and he’d taught you from a young age how to handle a bow and arrow. You spotted a bow and a quiver full of arrows near to you and looked at them contemplatively. Looking around, you noted there weren’t a lot of people around.
Why not? you asked yourself, picking up the bow and quiver.
You slung the quiver over your shoulder after withdrawing an arrow. You lined yourself up with the middle target, setting your feet shoulder width apart and resting your weight evenly on each foot. You nocked your arrow and lifted the bow fluidly, drawing it back. You paused when your hand was positioned on your jaw, making sure your anchor and stance were correct. When you were sure they were, you aimed carefully. You sucked in a deep breath before breathing out again, releasing the bowstring with the breath. Your hand moved back a little, as expected, and the arrow flew forward at the target. You maintained your stance, though you winced when the bowstring smacked against your arm.
“Crap,” you hissed under your breath, even as your eyes stayed fixed on the arrow.
You frowned when it lodged in the outer ring of the yellow. You lowered your bow, shaking your arm a little as it continued to sting. You pulled the quiver off and set it and the bow back to where you found it. You rubbed at where the bowstring had hit your harm, cursing again under your breath.
