"Hey, Carse, have you seen Bry?" Jayden asks, coming up behind me by my locker.
"Um, well, yeah. She's in detention now."
"Why?!?"
"Alisster was bullying her during class and Bry was fighting back so Mr. Ticker gave them both detention for talking." I shut my locker and flip the dial to lock it.
Jayden blows out her breath. "Geez. Well, thanks." Then she hurries away.
"See ya," I call after her. Then I head over to the music rooms. Hayden and I are planning on singing some stuff in the rooms before heading over to set.
"Chicken Girls season 3, ya pumped?" shouts Hayden, coming up next to me and slapping my back.
"Yupp. How do you feel about Rhyme and TK still being the OTP?"
Hayden laughs. "I mean, I'm not surprised. Fans are still gonna go crazy over it...but it's showbiz, ya know?"
"I guess." We find an empty music room and enter. I brought my guitar today, and soon it's set up.
"Whaddaya wanna play?"
I open my iPad and scroll through some song chords. "How about this one?"
"Sure. You take harmony."
Laughing, I quickly start tuning my guitar. "Allrighyyy, ya set?"
"We need a stand," Hayden says, surveying the room and pointing to my iPad.
"Rrright..." I glance around too. "What kind of music room is this? Well, all the other rooms are unlocked, so..."
"Get one in the library maybe." Hayden suggests.
"You get it."
"Nah, dude. I'll finish tuning your guitar."
I groan and hand it to him, then exit the room and start heading for the library.

I slap the stamp down onto the back of the book, blow on it, and set it down onto the pile. I like reading, and I love books, but I'd much rather be doing something else than stamping books in the library.
Ms. Hodges, the librarian, comes over to see how I'm doing.
"Hi, honey, how's it going?"
I shrug. "Okay."
"So, why did you get detention again?" Ms. Hodges picks up the stack of books and heads over to the book cart.
"Umm," I press the stamp into the ink pad and stamp another book, "Talking during class."
"Tsk tsk tsk." Mrs. Hodges shakes her head. "That's too bad. Mr. Ticker has been known for doing pretty harsh punishments. I don't think talking is worthy of detention," she smiles, "but I'm glad for the help."
I smile and stamp another book. Someone comes over to Mrs. Hodges, and she disappears to help him find a book.
Finally, I finish the pile, and I come over to Mrs. Hodges. "I finished the stack. What can I do next?"
"Hmm," she looks back at the kid she's helping. "I need to get him something from the office. Can you watch the desk for a couple minutes?"
"Sure, no problem." I sit down onto the chair behind the desk and look around while Mrs. Hodges disappears outside with the kid.
There's a paper on the floor, and I stoop to pick it up. It's a plan for the Sadie Hawkins dance, probably drafted by the student government. Removing my glasses to read it better, I scan the plan. It almost looks like the one I drafted with Carson for Kenzie's birthday.
There's even a party playlist. One of the songs is my favorite song ever, Never Be The Same by Camilla Cabello. I start humming it, while scanning the rest of the songs on the list.
Then the paper slips from my fingers, and I lean down to pick it up. Still humming, I absentmindedly knock my glasses down. Wow, Brynn, you'd think you'd be graceful cuz you're a dancer...

I hurry through the hallways till I get to the library. The librarian, Mrs. Hodges is a really nice lady, so I don't mind that much having to take a trek over here.
Entering the library, I glance around, looking for a stray stand. Nothing.
As I start walking over to the librarian desk, I notice from afar that it's not Mrs. Hodges. She's a gorgeous blonde. She reminds me almost of Brynn...
I come up to the desk. She's humming, looking away from my direction.
"Excuse me?"
She turns her head and our eyes meet. It's...
Suddenly, she ducks down and picks up something front under the desk. Her glasses, I see. She shoves them back up her nose and looks back up.
"Hey, Carson, sorry."
"H-hi..." It's Bry...she looked uncannily like Brynn just now. Maybe it's because I've been thinking about Brynn a lot recently...
"I'm just watching the desk for a little bit for Mrs. Hodges. For detention, ya know."
"Yeah..."
"Hey, by the way..." Bry smiles shyly, "Thanks for defending me to Mr. Ticker."
I grin back. Thinking about it, Bry's pretty cute too. No wonder I confused her for Brynn.
"Oh yeah, no problem. What was Alisster saying to you? I mean, I heard what she said about me and you and Jayden...but what else was she saying?"
Rolling her eyes, Bry says, "She's still salty about me turning down Ben. She's trying to get me to ask him out to the dance, but..." She trails off and blushes. "Never mind. How can I help you?"
"Uh, oh yeah. Hayden and I are playing some stuff and we need a music stand. All the other music rooms are locked. Do you know where I can find one?"
"Oh, I think I know where one might be. C'mon." Bry gets up and steps out from behind the desk.
I follow her, and we start heading for the back of the library.
"So...do you like Ben?" I prod.
She shakes her head, and blushes. "I mean, one of my friends told me he likes me, but I..don't really."
We arrive in front of a storage closet, and Bry tries the door and it opens.
We step inside. "I think there should be a stand in here..." Bry says, and flips the light switch.
"Well, this is messy," I remark, looking around the piles of stuff everywhere.
"No kidding." She giggles.
After fishing around, I finally find a stand in the back.
"Found one!" I say victoriously, raising it above my head. She laughs.
"Yay, finally."
We climb over the rest of the stuff. Before switching off the light, Bry stops. She turns to me, and our eyes meet again. Her eyes are magnetic.
"Uh..." She trails off, and her gaze drops.
"Yeah?" I say quietly.
"D-do...do you wanna go to the...the dance with me?" Bry looks back up shyly, blushing.
A smile spreads across my face. "I'd love to."
