"Who are you?" Asked Ben as he stood protectively in front of me."Oh Benjamin, it's been too long." The man said.
"Ben, how does he know you?" I whispered.
"I have no clue." He said back.
"I see you don't remember me. You see, Ben, you are my nephew." The man said.
"You're my uncle? My dad said you were killed 2 years ago." Ben said.
"Well, as you can see, I'm very much alive. I've been watching and waiting for you to finally get into the crime business. With my brother gone, we can rule together and destroy her." Ben's uncle said gesturing to me.
"Wow. Do I really have to get rid of both of my evil relatives today?" Ben said. "And no. I'm definitely not going to destroy her. She saved my life and risked everything for me. By the way C, I'm still wondering. how everyone knows what you did except me."
"Um, now isn't really the time, Ben." I told him.
"No, my dear. Tell him what you did." The man said turning to me. "I would be surprised if you still had feelings for her, Benjamin even after she killed your own brother."
"My brother?" Ben asked with a saddened voice. He turned to me. "You killed my brother?!"
"Ben I didn't know. I have killed some people but it wasn't on purpose."
"How could you do this?" He asked with more sadness than anger in his voice.
"Ben this is exactly what he wants to happen. We can't turn on each other." I said.
"You can't hide from the truth, Ben. She's dangerous. She killed Josh and others when she was tangling with a government official who wanted to arrest her. She used one of her freak abilities, and he died right then and there. It was on the news everywhere." The man told Ben.
"Tell me it isn't true, Caroline." Ben pleaded. "My brother was my best friend. It killed me when he died. I almost went into the crime business for good, but something stopped me. But I swore to finish off the fool who murdered him."
"Ben, I-I," He cut me off.
"TELL ME HE'S LYING!" He yelled.
"I can't. It's true. I did kill him." I said sorrowfully.
"But Ben, I swear it was accidental. I had to stop some people so I caused a blast wave. I didn't know how to control my powers, so I killed some innocent people. I've been in hiding ever since." I said.
"How could you? I loved you. I trusted you," he said.
"Ben, I don't know what to say." I told him. "Please forgive me, if I had known that he was you--"
"Save your breath." He said harshly. "You're dead to me."
With that he dropped me to the ground. Ben started to cry. I'd never seen him cry before, even when he was dying. It was the saddest thing ever. He just broke down, and all of his body started shaking. The guilt I felt was unbearable. I almost felt like he should have just let me die on the boat. Ben's uncle was still watching. He went over to Ben and whispered something in his ear. Ben walked away with the man leaving me in the room. I started to cry too. All of a sudden there was a loud "BANG!" in the other room.
"BEN!" I screamed. I ran to the other room and tried to open the door but it was locked. I remembered Ben's trick at the boat. I took out one of my hairpins, and the lock unlatched. I ran in. There, I saw Ben holding a gun in his hand with tears running down his face. I looked a few feet in front of him and saw a man laid out dead on the floor.
"Ben, I-I, thought you got shot. I was terrified. I'm so glad you're okay. I-" He cut me off, and pulled me in. We kissed, and it was the best feeling I had felt in a long time. I backed away, and he hugged me as tight as he could, tears still streaming down his face.
"I'm so sorry, Caroline." Ben told me. "I had to make him believe me. I am sad about my brother, of course, but that's in the past, and I care too much about you to let you go. You will never be 'dead to me.' And...I love you. Will you forgive me?"
"Only if you forgive me. I did a terrible thing. Even though t was an accident, I'm so sorry. I love you too." I said.
"Wait what?"asked Ben looking at me in astonishment.
"I said I love you too," I repeated.
Ben pulled me into a tighter hug, causing me to laugh.
"Now come on," I said. "We need to figure out why I'm here."
"But I thought you were only here as a trap." Ben said.
"That doesn't seem likely," I shook my head. "I think your uncle figured out where I was going, but I feel like I'm supposed to be here."
My suspicions came true when I saw a woman come through the door. I recognized her from one of my many classes at the Organization. She walked into the room.
"Caroline, Benjamin, welcome to the Organization. We're happy to have you back, Caroline. I know it's been tough for the past year, but you've gotten through it, and we're proud of you for that." The woman said. "It seems like you have both passed your first test. We had no idea Ben's uncle would be here, of course, but you both handled the situation well. Benjamin, your deception is incredible. And Caroline, your brains and capabilities are astounding. I remember teaching you, but I never thought I'd be able to help train you."
Ben spoke up. "Excuse me, but why exactly are we here?"
"Well, you see Ben, this is a spy organization which included people with special powers like Caroline. We used to be located in California, But then we were discovered by your father, and we had to relocate here." The woman told Ben.
"But how do you even know who you am?" He asked.
"We know almost everyone who has even the slightest connection to the Organization. So naturally since your father tried to destroy us, we knew who you were." The woman said.
A man stepped into the room. "We've also found that since Caroline gave up some her energy for you, you now have a few powers that we can help develop, Ben." The man said.
"Wait, wait, wait. I HAVE POWERS??? Like what? Ooh can I fly?!" Ben asked excitedly.
"Silly boy," I said patting his back and giving him a smile. "Some of the powers you wouldn't even know have or you can only use once."
"Oh," said a disappointed Ben.
"The powers aren't always what you think," said the woman.
"So, what are your powers, C?" Ben asked me.
"Well I have super human fighting abilities, I can see things when I'm closing my eyes, I used to be able to make a blastwave but I could only use that power once, and I used to be able to heal people but I used that on you." I told him.
"Actually, Caroline, we have suspicion to believe that you have other powers." The woman said.
"Wait really?!" I asked excitedly.
"Yes. We have done some research, and there are still more to be found," she said.
"Wow. I'm excited and terrified. You're sure that no one is going to find me here?" I asked.
"Positive," said the woman. "We'll start yours and Benjamin's training at the Academy. I was thinking into splitting you into separate teams, but you work very well together."
Ben cut in. "Thank you so much, this is an honor. And thank you for not splitting us up. I don't know what I'd do if C wasn't here to save me all the time."
"You have a point." I laughed.
"So, what are you testing me for? Like what kind of powers?" Ben asked.
"Telekinesis." The woman answered.
"AWESOME!" Ben said, pumping his fist.
"Dork," I laughed.
"Well this will be fun," Ben said. "We need a super awesome spy-team name!"
"Wow, you're pumped," I laughed. "Okay, what kind of a name?"
"How about B+C=..." I cut him off.
"Stop while your ahead. It's not a ship name." I told him. "Just team B&C will be perfect." I told the woman.
"Okay team B&C," the woman said. "Get ready for some pretty intense training."
"You ready for this?" I asked Ben.
"As long as I'm with you, I'm ready for anything." He said lacing our hands together. He leaned over and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"Alright, you two," said the woman. "Let's get you into training. I have a good feeling about this one."
"So do I," I said as I looked up at Ben. I could tell that this was going to be one of many adventures, but as long as I could do it with him, it was everything to me.
