Tangled in Love Rapunzel x Hiccup Fanfiction

Chapter one

*Hiccup's POV*

"No that wouldn't work." I said to myself as I worked on a new tail piece for Toothless. "HICCUP!" Jack yelled bursting through the door as his ice cold wind blew all my papers off the desk. "NOOO! Jack, come on I almost had those finished and they were organized so neatly." I complained to him. "I know I'm sorry but this is actually really important, it's not like the other times." he replied quickly. I sighed, "So what is it this time? Another dragon bucked you off again? I told you they're not use to your cold body and they probably don't like the coldness." I said and I picked up all my papers from the ground and placed them neatly on the desk only to be pushed off by Jack who then sat in their place. "Jack really?" I complained again. "Look I found out that my little sister married the prince on Arendell and became queen then had two little girls! Their names are uh what was it? Oh! Elsa and Anna! But my sister and her husband died in a ship wreck after Elsa turned 17 in a ship wreck and now she's coming of age to become queen. And I wanna go see my nieces for Elsa's corination and I want you to go with me. I'm leaving today to try to find it and when I do I'll get Sandy to give you directions. Are you with me on this or not?" He asked. "Jack how is Sandy going to give me directions? I'm not good at guessing all the pictures and-" Jack cut me off. "So I take it that your in! That's great, I knew I could count on you!" Jack quickly said excitedly and flew out before I could say anything. "Great, just great! How do I get myself into these things?" I asked myself aloud. The Toothfairy probably told him. I went back to my papers and organized them and finished the sketch of Toothless's new tail piece and started working on the actual thing.

*Rapunzel's POV*

This Flynn Rider guy is getting a little hard to deal with. I mean he said he was going to take me to see the floating lanterns but he keeps trying to get me to change my mind! I love feeling all this freedom but at the same time I feel terrible about running away after I made that promise to my Mom. I pace back and forth by the fire as Flynn gets the firewood. "Hey blondie, what's biting at ya?" Flynn said as he appeared behind me. I gasped out of fright. "Oh, haha it's just you. It's nothing I'm just really excited to see the floating lanterns!" I said nervously. "But..." he said as if telling me to continue. "But what if it's not what I've always dreamt it would be. What if its not as I thought? What if my mom finds out or something happens!" I rambled on as he took my hands. "Hey, come on now, it's not that bad and it's not that great. But that's coming from me who sees it year after year. And if you don't want to continue this journey then I can take you back home, you can give me my crown back and things will go as it should be and your Mother won't have to worry about you." He told me as I yanked my hands away from him. "No, I still want to see them!" I replied coldly. "Okay, okay. Then we continue our journey to see the lanterns tomorrow." he replied, stirring the fire. I made a hammock out of my long hair and laid in it, sighing happily at the positive outcomes of seeing the floating lanterns. "That's it Rapunzel, stay positive." I quietly told myself falling asleep shortly after.

~The Next Morning~

I woke up early and decided I would gather up berries and nuts for breakfast around the forest but still staying close by to the camp. Once I was done I went back to camp to find Flynn awake and walking off somewhere. I just figured he had to use the bathroom and boys will be boys so I left it alone and sat down eating some of the berries and nuts, saving some for Flynn. I waited about twenty minutes and I started getting uneasy about him being gone for so long, knowing that he gets in trouble easily. I wait ten more minutes and he's still not back so I start walking in the way that he headed in. I looked everywhere for him and even called out his name, still nothing. Soon I got lost, not knowing where I was or how to get back to where we had camp set up. "Oh no! Now I'm lost!" I cried out in aggravation. I turned around to try to find another way only to be face to face with a REAL dragon. He was pitch black and he was growling in my face showing his sharp teeth. My breathing became fast and I tried backing up but tripped over my hair. He roared loudly in my face as I screamed and pleaded to him not to harm me. "Toothless! What's wrong bud? And what's up with all this hair?" a voice came from behind the dragon. Suddenly a guy came from behind the fierce some beast, he had brown hair that covered his forehead and a fur vest with a big green long sleeved shirt, with a fur boot and a metal leg. "Oh, hello. I'm so sorry about Toothless, he isn't usually like this." he said extending his hand out as I gladly took it and let him help me up. My legs were still shaky but I held on to my hair, for if needed I could use it to escape or fight. "Woah that's some long hair you have there, I'm Hiccup by the way." he smiled. "Yeah, I never cut it, I'm Rapunzel." I say shyly as I smiled back. "Wow so this is your dragon? That's awesome. I've never seen a dragon before!" I say excitedly, taking a long look at the dragon who has started to stare at me. "Here let me help, look away and hold out  your hand." he told me as I looked at him as if he were crazy. "Look I know it sounds scary and dangerous, but you'll just have to trust me on this. Once he trusts you there's no doubt that he'll ever try to hurt you." He smiled again. This was really crazy but somehow I trusted Hiccup even though I had just met him. I did as he said and Toothless slowly put his nose in my hand, I slowly looked up and Toothless looked at me and purred. I laughed, "He's not so scary anymore!" I told Hiccup. "Yeah, see just a little trust and bonding is all you need to be a dragon owner." he told me. "Wow, you ride him?" I asked noticing the saddle. "Ya it's really fun and the fastest way I know of getting to places." he said looking into my eyes. "Woah, you have really pre-" Hiccup started but was cut off by Flynn's scream. I quickly turned around only to see him frightened by Toothless. "Why aren't you freaking out? There's a dragon right beside you! Rapunzel!" he yelled. "It's ok look." I said petting Toothless as he purred and cuddled against me. I giggled and hugged the adorable dragon as Flynn looked dumbfounded. "Well, lets go. We're losing time." he said shaking it off. "Wait!" Hiccup said. "We got a little lost, do you know where Arendelle is?" he asked as Flynn started to give him directions. "Thanks, hey Rapunzel. Would like a ride before you go?" Hiccup asked kindly hopping onto Toothless holding his hand out to me. I gave him my biggest smile and nodded as I took his hand and got on. "Rapunzel, come on we don't have all day! Remember the deal?" Flynn complained. "Oh come on it's not everyday I get to ride a dragon!" I say as Hiccup tells me to hold on tight and we take off into the sunny blue sky. 'Wow this was truly amazing' I thought to myself. "So what's up with that guy you're with? Not to be nosy or anything." Hiccup asked as I told him the whole story. "Wow, he sounds uh what's the word? Selfish?" Hiccup said. "Yeah I guess you could say that." I told him. "Hey I still have quite some time before I have to be in Arendelle and the place you're headed is on the way so would you like to come with me instead?" Hiccup asked hopefully.
