The best thing about tonight's that we're not fighting
It couldn't be that we have been this way before
I know you don't think that I am trying
I know you're wearing thin down to the core

But hold your breath

Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind

Or I won't live to see another day
I swear its true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find

This is not what I intended
I always swore to you I'd never fall apart
You always thought that I was stronger
I may have failed
But I have loved you from the start

Oh, but hold your breath

Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
It's impossible to find

So breathe in so deep
Breathe me in
I'm yours to keep

And hold onto your words
'Cause talk is cheap
And remember me tonight when you're asleep

Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find

Tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find

I think it's more extreme than others have made it sound...

Their relationship was perfect, but over time became worn down, leading them to fight nonstop.

He remembers how they used to be and decides to change it. He's shedding all grudges, forgetting the disagreements, because he knows they can be so much better than that. Because a girl like that is impossible to find. A relationship like how theirs were is impossible to find, and it's worth fixing.

This song is about a guy who cheated on his girlfriend/wife. He realized he made the biggest mistake ever, the girlfriend/wife is losing the trust she had for him. And she is in the slow process of leaving him. The guy thinks that commiting suicide is the only way that the girlfriend/wife will realize that he really cant live without her.

""this is not what i intended
i always swore to you i'd never fall apart
you always thought that i was stronger
i may have failed,
but i have loved you from the start""

*He fell apart when she found out that he cheated. They have been fighting ever since. She accepted his apology but the trust is still fading. He realizes his 'big' mistake. This is shown in other verses.

""the best thing about tonight's that we're not fighting
could it be that we have been this way before?
i know you don't think that i am trying
i know you're wearing thin down to the core""

*He remembers the days they trusted each other. The happy times. He is trying to gain her trust back, but she cant trust him ever again. She thought that he was "stronger" and that he would never cheat.

""but hold your breath because
tonight will be the night that
i will fall for you over again <-- literally means falling
don't make me change my mind <-- don't talk me out of it
i won't live to see another day <-- I'm gonna kill myself
i swear it's true <-- for real
because a girl like you is impossible to find <-- cuz i don't wanna live without you
you're impossible to find""

""so breathe in, so deep
breathe me in
i'm yours to keep
but hold on to your words
'cause talk is cheap
and remember me tonight when you're asleep""

*He told her he would never cheat, she believed him. She trusted him. Now he admits by ""but hold on to your words"" that he should not have lied and cheated. So this time around he is not going to lie and that he is going to go through with the suicide.

I hate to pop everyone's bubble but this song is about his relationship with his wife and how she is treats him like a jerk, and he is just so in love with her. The relationship isn't working but he's holding on the the few good moments that they share. He keeps saying "and tonight will be the night I fall for you," He wants to reconnect with her, but like I said things are not working out between them. Before they got big and started touring outside of Chicago, his wife would go to all the shows and just drink at the bars and flirt with other guys as he dedicated songs to her.

I think "Fall For You" is a song about love (obviously).

"Best thing 'bout tonight's that we're not fighting"
I suppose the girl and the guy have been fighting a lot lately and finally one night, they're not.

"Could it be that we have been this way before?"
They been fighting a lot and they can't remember when was the last time they never fought.

"I know you don't think that I am trying"
I guess the girl doesn't think the guy's trying to stop the fight.

"But hold your breath because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you"
Umm.. I suppose that throughout all the fighting, the guy has found out that he truly loves the girl.

"Don't make me change my mind"
He doesn't want the girl to do something so he will decide that he doesn't love her. Because he likes the feeling of loving her.

"A girl like you is impossible to find"
He doesn't wanna stop loving her because he thinks he can't ever find a girl like her to love.

That's what I think.

I think this song is about a couple who have fought many times because the girl thinks he hasn't been trying to keep their relationship but the guy is telling her that he is trying and that he loves her to much to let her go. That there is no other person he will fall for, there is no one like her but then he does something stupid "this is not what I intended, I always swore to you I'd never fall a part". " you always thought that I was stronger" means she found out about the stupid thing and she thought he was better then that. He states that he made a mistake and he knows it but he still loves her and he always has. He states the fact that he will always be hers no matter what and not to say anything because he knows she's mad and he knows he messed up but he doesn't want them to fight any more. He wants her to forgive him someday.

The intro makes it obvious that the song is a guy telling his girl about his relationship with her, and that they are always fighting. "Could it be that we have been this way before?" To me, the way the guy says that, shows that he's a little sarcastic; questioning if they had ever gone a night without fighting. It also implies that it's been so long since they've had a good night, he can't believe there was a time where they didn't fight at all. "I know you're wearing thin down to the core" He knows she's coming to her breaking point with something he's doing.

In the chorus he is clearly telling her to wait and see they'll have good nights again (and again). There's an interesting part though, that makes it apparent the he is in control of the relationship. When he says "Don't make me change my mind" it shows that he might go back on his words, and hints that maybe he has before. He then goes on saying that she's unlike anyone he's ever met.

This whole section confirms my suspicions. He must have cheated on her at least twice before. He didn't mean for it to happen, and he promised he wouldn't do it again. She thought he was better than that, but he gave in. Though he gave in, it was always her he wanted.

The chorus, once again, restates the ideas it had the first time through.

These are the last verses before the ending chorus. At first, it seemed kind of detached from the rest of the song, but if you look closely it makes sense. He's telling her to calm down and take what he's saying into consideration. "And hold on to your words, cuz talk is cheap" That part might seem like he means that she shouldn't speak, but I think while he's saying it to her, he means it about himself; that he will be holding on to his words, his promise, and that it doesn't matter what he tells her, because "talk is cheap". He's not going to cheat on her anyway.

The chorus, for the final time, emphasizes the point it was trying to get across

FACTS

John Vesely (AKA Secondhand Serenade) told MTV about this ballad: "'Fall For You' was actually the first song I wrote on the piano. I was practicing, and I started to hear a melody in my head. And two hours later, it was done. It was really easy to write because it was about something that was going on with my life at the time. The song is really about a relationship slowly deteriorating to a point where it seems that there is absolutely no way to save it. It takes you through the various stages of the relationship up until the point where it seems useless to go on and then something happens. You see a glimpse of what your life would be like without that person and you realize how much you need them.

I really love this song because its very realistic. It definitely has it's dark side. I tend to write like that a lot. If I sugarcoat my songs then I'm not really writing the truth. There is a lot of pain in life, and you have to experience it in order to enjoy the few moments that life feels perfect. It's totally worth it in my opinion."
