"Morning, Ann," Said Peter's voice as I walked into the kitchen.
"Morning, how are you feeling?" I asked.
"Better, do you mind bringing me a bowl of cereal?"
"What kind?"
"You know."
I poured us each a large bowl of wheaties and we started eating.
"So how was your date with your friend?"
"There was no date. He stood me up."
"What an ass."
"Tell me about it. Then when Nicole came and picked me up he was making out with some other girl."
"That sucks."
"Yeah."
We sat in a tense silence and could tell he wanted to tell me something.
"Hey... can I tell you something?"
"Shoot."
"I really like you."
I didn't say anything for a bit.
"I like you too." I answered finally. He sat up and kissed me wincing in pain. I was thinking about all the trouble I had to go through to save Peter and how it all led to this moment. I suppose some things are meant to be.
