"took you long enough," pete said, leaning against mikey's locker.

"mhm," mikey said, avoiding eye contact with pete, trying to quickly get all of his stuff out of his locker.

"what? you miss all of my calls, and ignore all of my texts, and all i get is 'mhm'?" pete said.

"look, i'm sorry, what do you want from me?" mikey sighed, "i'm going to be late so please just leave me alone."

"hey, i'm sorry, are you okay?" pete asked, he realized something must be wrong with mikey.

"yes, okay, i said leave me alone," mikey said, annoyed.

"okay, okay, you can leave," pete said.

"thank you," mikey said relived.

"but not without a hug!" pete grabbed mikey into a tight hug, but mikey tried to get out of it, frantically looking around the hall. "mikey, what's wrong?"

"nothing! i swear! i've just got to go," mikey said quickly.

"okay, fine." pete started, "but if anyone lays a single finger on you, i swear to god i'll -"

"pete, that's enough!" mikey almost yelled, "i have got to go." pete let go of mikey, and let him go to class.

☹☹☹☹☹☹☹

Pete knew something was up with mikey when he was late, again. mikey was never late. see, pete and mikey have "their" table at lunch. honestly, they just didn't really have any other friends. so pete was just sitting alone waiting for mikey, which by now he didn't think he was going to come.

a few minutes later mikey and two other people sat at the table.

"pete, this is bob, and chris," smikey said, "they're a year older then us."

"hey," pete said, focusing more and more on his sandwich. he had a bad feeling about them. they would constantly whisper to each other and laugh. he pulled mikey over to whisper something, "mikey i don't like them, i have a bad feeling about them."

"don't worry, they're nice," mikey said.

"yeah, but-" pete started.

"you can trust me, right?" mikey smiled.

"yeah i guess," pete sighed.

☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹

"hey, mikey!" pete yelled, running to mikey, "why are you waiting outside the school?"

"i'm going to hang out with chris and bob once they finally get out of school," mikey said.

"oh," pete said, "i'm going to wait with you."

"why, are you waiting for someone?" mikey asked.

"no, can i just wait with you?" pete asked, putting his arm around mikey's shoulders.

"yeah, i guess." mikey muttered, pushing pete's arms off of his shoulders.

after a while of waiting, and mikey clearly not wanting to engage in conversation with pete, bob and chris finally got out of the school. detention, pete assumed.

"hey mikey," bob said.

"hey pete, i gotta go," mikey said.

"not without a hug!" pete grinned, pulling mikey into a tight hug.

"pete, let go," mikey said. he struggled to get out of the hug, and ended up pushing pete away, causing him to almost fall. "okay, lets go," mikey said to bob and christ. mikey waved a little bye to pete.

"okay, bye," pete muttered.

☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹

later that night pete's parents went on  date, leaving pete alone for a couple of hours, so naturally pete found himself in the living room playing video games.

after a couple of hours there was a knock on the door. pete paused his video game and just stared at the door for a second. it can't be my parents, they won't be home for a while. it can't be the police, i wasn't  making any noise. or was i? crap. there was another knock at the door, this time it was harder.

"open the goddamn door!" the person yelled. the first thing that came to pete's mind was the police.

"don't arrest me! i'm only 16! i'm innocent! " pete yelled.

"pete, what the hell are you talking about?" the person yelled, "now open the goddamn door before i die of goddamn hypothermia!"

mikey! pete ran to the door and opened it to see a freezing cold and soaking wet mikey way, trying to cover his face with the hood of his hoodie.

"mikey! come inside! what are you doing? it's like pouring rain outside and you don't have an umbrella! you're soaking wet!" pete yelled, he started to sound like an over protective mother as he pulled mikey inside. mikey just stood there and cried.

after a while mikey calmed down and gladly took the blanket and cup of coffee pete offered.

"are you going to tell me, or," pete asked. mikey just turned his body farther away from pete. "well if you're not going to tell me anything, then at least change out of your soaking wet clothes, i'll get you a pair of pajamas to change into."

after pete got the change of clothes, he expected to see mikey with at least his hoodie off, but mikey was still on the couch, and didn't move a muscle.

"hey, if you're not going to take off your hoodie, i am," pete said, trying to take of the hoodie.

"no, stop it," mikey whimpered, "please, pete, please."

as soon as pete was able to pry the hoodie off of mikey he saw.

"holy crap," pete gasped, "mikey,"

his body was scattered with bruises and scratches, and now that he could fully see his face, he had a black eye. mikey just sat there and cried.

"who did this to you?" pete asked, "please tell me, mikey, please."

mikey just looked at pete for a while, before grabbing his shirt and kissing him. as soon as mikey realised pete was kissing back he pushed pete away and crawled to the other side of the couch. after that mikey was quiet, and pete was in too much shock to even blink. but after a while, mikey spoke.

"it was bob," mikey said quietly, "i-i told him i liked you. i-it was stupid, i knew, i knew he was homophobic, but i told him pete. i told him. then, he started hitting me. he called me disgusting, a-and gross, a-and -"

"mikey, baby," pete said, bringing mikey close and hugging him, "you," pete kissed his left cheek, "are," pete kissed his right cheek, "perfect," mikey looked into pete's eyes before kissing him again. after mikey broke the kiss he just hugged pete.

"it was just bob," mikey whispered, "christ walked into the room where bob was beating me up, but, he didn't do anything."

"hey it's okay," pete said.

"no, it's not," mikey said, he started crying into pete's shoulder, "i knew they were like this, but i didn't stop pete, i didn't stop. i was so scared i ruined our relationship. i was so scared i made you hate me."

"oh, i could never hate you," pete smiled, "never, ever. pinky promise."

"you're such a child," mikey giggled, "pinky promise."

pete linked his and mikey's pinks, and kissed him again, and that was when mikey was truly happy.
