The sound of the funeral march played through the speakers. I held Gabrielle in my arms, gently stroking the back of her head as her tears soaked my tuxedo.

"I can't watch him"

"shush. Everything's going to be fine now"

I forced her to sit down. I handed her the bottle that I prepared for this occasion. She gingerly parted from the hug and wiped her tears away with the napkin that I gave her a while ago.

"you're the best. Seriously" she sniffled "how come no girl noticed you yet?"

I chuckled dryly, my eyes still fixed on her "I'm not interested in the opposite sex"

She rolled her eyes and I gently tucked some stray strands of black hair under her ear. She glanced at me then moved a bit farther. I ignored her actions and just stared at her face.

Her hair's a mess now. Her mascara has long been erased. I caught sight of the dark circles underneath her bloodshot eyes. I bit back a sigh.

She still looks amazing despite all that.

"I am interested in one girl though"

She smiled "girlfriend?"

"no, she seems to be oblivious to my advances"

She wasn't listening. She blew her nose and threw the tissue. I laughed at the snot left on her upper lip. She narrowed her eyes "what? what's so funny?"

"there's still some left"

Her cheeks reddened. She shot me a dirty look before grabbing another tissue "continue laughing and I'm going to chuck this down your throat"

"I don't think that's possible. First off, the—"

"oh, just shut up wise guy"

we met each other's gaze, still laughing. She grinned "I miss these moments"

As soon as she said that, sadness clouded her features "It's a shame Ji Soo had to miss this"

Him. Him again. I balled my fists. Why the hell does every conversation we have always end up about him?

He's dead. He's not coming back. I'm the one who's here with her.

"by the way, when are you free? Hansol's ready for the thing"

I unclenched my fists. I tried to force out a smile "whenever he's ready. My office is always open for you"

"great" she gave me one of her lopsided grins.

My heart skipped a beat.

I slid closer to her, about to engulf her in my embrace when she stood up and patted my shoulder. "stay smart Han"
