'Cher, nakuha mo na ba ang salary mo?'
'Mamaya na lang, may tinatapos pa ako.' sagot ko kay Christa na kasama ko rin dito sa trabaho.
'Nasabi na ba sa'yo ang tungkol sa bagong assignment mo?'
'Sinabihan na ako pero I haven't got it yet.' sagot ko ulit without looking at her, nakatutok ang mga mata ko sa papel na nasa desk ko.
'I'll leave you here then. Sasabay ka ba sa'min mag-lunch ni Arthur?'
'I can't. I have to finish this so I can start with my new assignment.' I glance at her and smile cheekily.
'Masyado ka talagang subsob palagi diyan sa trabaho mo, Cher. I won't be surprise if you'll get another promotion kapag pinagpatuloy mo ang ganyan.' umiling na lang si Christa. 'I'll go ahead.'
'Bye.' muli kong binalik ang mga mata ko sa binabasa ko. Kanina pa ako dito, ito agad ang pinagtuunan ko ng pansin the moment I stepped in this building. Pero dahil sa dami ng dapat i-analyze ay nasa kalagitnaan pa lamang ako ng dapat kong gawin.
Pagsapit ng 2pm ay nakaupo parin ako sa desk ko. I am feeling the ache at my spine and at my nape. Huminto muna ako and close my eyes then I massage the upper bridge of my nose tapos ay sumandal ako sa backrest ng rolling chair ko. I massage my nape again then stretch my left arm.
'Cher, pinapatawag ka ni DL sa office niya.'
'Bakit daw?'
'He didn't say why.'
Pinatungan ko ng paper weight ang mga papel na binabasa ko saka kinuha ang black leather jacket ko na nakasabit sa coat rack. Pinatong ko ito sa suot kong pink na spaghetti strap blouse. Naglakad na ako papunta sa elevator para makaakyat sa 3rd floor kung saan nandoon ang office ni DL Michael Angelo Gonzales. Pagdating ko sa 3rd floor ay dumeretso lang ako sa hallway na may kanya-kanyang kwarto, sa dulo nito ang nag-iisang kulay itim na pinto na may nakalagay na...

'Come in.' a baritone voice of DL welcomes me as I open the door widely after knocking three times. When I am infront of him, I raise my hand and gave him a salute. 'As you were, Corporal. Have a seat.' I sit properly and curtly at a chair infront of DL's table.
'Pinatawag niyo daw ako DL Sir.'
'I just want to know if hawak mo na ang copy ng new assignment mo.'
'Nasabihan na ako about diyan DL Sir. But I haven't got my copy yet, tinatapos ko pa ang analyzation of my team's last assignment DL Sir.'
'Okay. But get it later at Lily, nasa kanya na ang copy mo.'
'Yes DL Sir. Kukunin ko mamaya kay Miss Lily and I will also get my salary at her.'
'Another thing Corporal... Ilan months na mula ng you've been promoted with your rank?'
'3 months already, DL Sir.'
'You've already been promoted as a Detective Corporal last 3 months ago. I was just wondering if why do you have to stay with the lower ranks when you have an office of your own here at 3rd floor, Corporal.'
Ang mga dinaanan ko kaninang mga kwarto ay para sa mga higher ranks ng Detective Department. For the Corporals ay may 3 offices since tatlo kaming Detective Corporals dito sa Detective Department, isang office for the Detective Sergeant. Then the black office kung saan ako nandito ngayon ay sa Detective Lieutenant and lastly is the white office beside this that is for the highest rank of our department which is the Detective Captain.
'Mas comfortable kasi ako sa old desk ko, DL Sir. Hindi pa nagsi-sink in talaga sa isip ko about my promotion.'
'But you have to vacate your desk and start working at your office, Corporal. There are files that needs to be confidential and you knew that so well. You leave me with no choice, Corporal. I am commanding you this time to vacate your old station. Ayokong maabutan ka pa ng Detective Captain on that station when he visits here.'
'Yes DL Sir. I'll vacate my stuffs later before I leave.' tumango ako sa kanya, he smile at me.
'I hope you understand that you are now included with the higher ranking officers of this department, Corporal. There should be a marginal line between you and the lower ranks so they will respect you. So they will know how to address you, hindi lang Cher ang itatawag nila sa'yo. That is your priveledge Corporal, live with it.'
'I understand it clearly, DL Sir.'
'Good. Now, I don't want to disturb you further with what you are doing. You may go, Detective Corporal.' tumayo na ako and gave another hand salute to my superior. After he acknowledge it ay lumabas na ako ng office niya.
Let me enlighten you all by introducing myself. I am Cherish Athena Demir Chua, 27 years old. The youngest child of Peterson Chua and Zehra Demir Chua. And the only sibling of Peter Cronus Demir Chua who is a businessman and owner of Demir-Chua Enterprise. I am a half Chinese and half Turkish, born and raised in Beijing China. When I was 10, my family went in the Philippines to venture a business that is in line with textile and fabrics. My bestfriend Ares Timothy Li and his parents also went in the Philippines to expand their company, Li Empire. Sumunod kami sa kanila because the Philippines is a great country to start a business according to our parents. I studied at UP Diliman then work for a year at our company. Pumasok ako sa Philippine Military Academy then when I've graduated ay pumasok ako sa Philippine National Police under the Detective Department. When I was starting sa PNP Detective Department, puro paper works lang ang pinapagawa sa akin. Also I was in a 6 months training as part of my requirements sa pagiging police officer. Since I've graduated a 4 years course in Business Administration, naging 1 year na lang ang experience na kinailangan ko plus my work performance kaya nahelera na agad ako sa mga detectives. Part of my job description as a detective are to gather evidences and facts for criminal cases. It includes interviewing potencial suspects, examining records, observe the activities of suspects and participates in raids and arrests. Kasama sa trabaho ko ang pagiging undercover sa mga situations that needs further investigations na kailangan ay discreet. This year, I've got promoted as Detective Corporal or I am at the two-stripe ranking na mas kilala sa tawag na Senior Police Officer. Parehas parin naman ang ginagawa ko sa mga lower ranks pero mas bigger assignments na ang naa-assign sa akin plus, I also got my own team of police officers.
Marami akong manliligaw noon pa man, hindi sa pagmamayabang ay maganda ang physial features ko kaya nga niloloko ako dito sa trabaho na hindi daw ako nababagay dito sa Philippine National Police. Dapat daw ay nag-artista na lang ako or nag-model. I stand 5 feet 5 inches tall, white race with an originally black straight hair. Because I have a Turkish blood, nakuha ko ang pagiging blue eyes ng mommy ko with long black eyelashes. My lips are plump and pinkish red, narrow proud nose, high cheekbones and a voluptous body. Kahit na madami ang nanliligaw sa akin, isa lang ang naging boyfriend ko since I started to knew what love was. I first met Luke at a party of one of my friends in Manila Peninsula. That's the time I first saw him and we got introduced. I was 15 that time and he was 20. I find him a bit old for me, hindi siya ang ideal man ko actually. I want men who are near my age para same kami ng mga trips and likes, although he is handsome but he is too much for me. Masyado siyang gwapo para sa akin at parang walang kaseryosohan sa katawan. Since he was alone that night kaya kasama namin siya ni Troy which is the birthday boy plus our other friends. I find him handsome and attractive but not to the extent that I got interested with him, hindi katulad ng mga kasama ko that night who have showed interest at him instantly. Our first meet up ay nadagdagan pa, I don't know if it was coincidental or he made ways so we could meet. Naging magaan ang loob ko sa kanya, he was fun to be with and may sense kausap. He is witty and smart plus I can't deny that he is hot. After 2 months of being with his company, we fell in love with each other. Luke was sweet kahit na hindi halata sa feaures niya, he was so thoughtful and caring which made it easy for my heart to fall in love with him. At first akala ko hindi kami magtatagal since ang age gap namin is 5 years but in every monthsaries and anniversaries that we spent together, our love for each other grew. I've matured with him, I've matured with his love and affection for me. Tumagal ang relationship namin nang 5 years, I was 20 nang maghiwalay kami ni Luke. He've accused me of having an affair with one of my officemates na kahit sa panaginip ko ay never na pumasok sa akin na gagawin ko yun sa kanya. Sobra ko siyang mahal para maghanap pa ng iba, siya lang ay sapat na for me to be complete. I was devastated for a year. Ares was there for me, patiently taking care of me. He was kind enough to put up on my sorrows and helped me make it through the pain. Nandoon siya when I cut my wrist, he was there when I drank several sleeping pills and was rushed to the hospital. He was there for me, Ares was always there for me. My life was a mess when Luke broke up with me. The only thing that got me back to my senses were my family and Ares. Nang makatayo ako ulit and gained back my self worth, pumasok ako sa Philippine Military Academy in Baguio and after graduation ay natanggap agad ako sa Detective Department ng Philippine National Police. 7 years na nang huli kaming nagkita ni Luke. I cut all my communications with him, I even deactivated all of my social media accounts, move to a new place that I've bought for myself and burned every single thing that reminded me of him. I even changed my hair style and hair color dahil gustong-gusto niya ang itim na itim at straight kong buhok. I also changed the way I dress. Gusto niya iyong pagiging feminine ko kaya lahat ng dresses ko ay pinamigay ko at nagpalit ako ng wardrobe.
