If You Put That Gun Down

I never got the chance
To live my life to the fullest

I never got the chance
Because of a bullet

Now if I remember clearly
It was nearly

The end of school
It was hot but the breeze was cool

I was laughing with my friends
Ignorant of how this day would end

Lately,
My experience seems to be a trend

I never knew what was to come
That by the end of today, I'd be finished, done
Rotting on a parking lot under the sun

It all happened in a flash, so quick, so fast
It seems as if I'm still how I were in the past

Alive, breathing
My eyes still seeing
The happiness, the light
Now all I see is bleeding...

If you would have put that gun down
I'd graduate, make my mama proud

If you woulda put that gun down,
I'd not be here lifeless on the ground

I used to be carefree and loud
Now I can't make a sound
I just wanna shout!
But nothing will come out...

My friends, my family
They watched that gun kill me

Did you hear them?
They were screaming my name!
So many voices...
All filled with pain.

"Come on man! Now is not your time to leave us."

"We love you, we love you, you need to believe us!"

"We're right here beside you please say that you can hear us!

Say something, anything, come on!"

I'm sorry, but I'm unable to respond.

So much violence, so much pain.
Too much silence, it's all insane.
I never thought I'd die by being slain.
...and if you're wondering, YES I died in vain

If you would have put that gun down
I'd be able to be loud, I'd still be around, death wouldn't have me bound

And most importantly,
We'd all be alive right now.

Inspired by: gun violence. It's so sad man, all these teenagers dying. They had whole lives to live. Fuck this bullshit honestly.
