Jean sighed and stayed laying down, his hands gripping the blanket. He stared at Eren, thinking deeply. "I was with my mother and her boyfriend..."Jean walked down the stairs of his home, a confused and nervous look on his face. He had heard shouting and screaming from outside when he was in his room. He had looked out his window in search of the source of the noise but he didn't see much. He looked in the living room which was empty. He needed to find his mother. He heard a scream from inside the house and ran to the kitchen. And there it was.
A crowd of people were barging in the backdoor. Lots of them were covered in blood and some were missing limbs. Jean's eyes widened in fear and he stumbled back. Then he saw something that would forever haunt his mind. His mother and boyfriend were huddled in the corner, the boyfriend had a knife in his hand. When the disgusting looking people walked towards them he saw the most horrible monster of them all.
As his mother's boyfriend grabbed her she screamed, looking around before catching Jean's stare. She had tears going down her face. "Help me Jean!" She cried before being shoved into the crowd. Her boyfriend used her as a human shield. Jean could only watch in horror as his mum was torn to bits. He screamed, grabbing her boyfriend as he tried to lunge at Jean. He kicked the older man in his crotch then shoved him into the group. "You monster! You fucking monster!" He ran away, running outside as he heard more screams inside the house.
He climbed up the ladder at the side of the house and lay on the roof, sobbing miserably. "Help me... please. Someone help me." He prayed, staring up at the sky. He felt vomit arise in his throat but he swallowed it down. Little did he know he would be stuck up their for a while, before he was rescued.
"...and then Erwin and Levi found me. On my roof, almost starved to death. I saw people die on my street, on the streets nearby. It was horrible. I couldn't do anything." Jean explained, staring at the ceiling now. Tears had gathered at the sides of his sad eyes and were now pouring down his face. Eren was about to say something but he was interrupted.
Erwin walked in the room, switching the light on so he could see. When the light flickered on he noticed the two teens, staring at each other with sad eyes. Jean appeared to be crying too. He rolled his eyes and grabbed some clothes. "I'm sleeping somewhere else." He told them before leaving again, switching the light off.
In the moments that the lights were on, and Eren could clearly see Jean, he felt his heart break a little inside. When the lights went back off he could only see the outline of Jean's head and shoulders, the rest of his body still under a blanket. Jean took a shaky breath and wiped his eyes. "I'll let you sleep now... sorry for keeping you up." He whispered, rolling over so his back was to Eren.
Frowning, Eren reached his hand out, gently holding Jean's arm. He heard Jean's breath hitch and sighed, hugging him tightly. "Jean... thank you for telling me." He said quietly, resting his forehead on Jean's back. "I'm sorry." He whispered, continuously hugging Jean despite his smaller body.
The taller boy smiled slightly and opened his eyes, rolling over to face Eren. He met sad, apologetic eyes and bit his lip, engulfing Eren in a hug. He tried to stop the tears pouring down his face as memories from his past floated into his mind. Eren stared up at Jean, his face practically buried in his chest. "Please don't cry." He begged, using a hand to wipe his tears away. "Just, get some sleep. You'll feel better in the morning." Eren advised, giving him a small smile.
Jean nodded and closed his eyes, so did Eren. But neither of them moved from each others embrace.

Jean was woken because he felt something hit his shoulder. His eyes opened and his head jerked up a bit only to see Levi standing near his mattress. He yawned slightly since he had only awaken and stared at the leader, wondering what he had to say.
"Breakfast is soon, so you both better hurry up." He advised, staring down at Jean. Levi never really had to wake up Jean since nobody really got a good sleep, except Hanji. So usually Jean was awake and first to the table. Levi turned and left the room, closing the door behind him.
Jean nodded and tried to sit up. But there was a large weight holding his side down. He looked down and what he saw made his eyes widened. Eren was there, hugging into his side. Jean's heart thumped against his chest as he looked down in confusion. His arm had been wrapped tightly around Eren and he didn't even realise. He blushed, remembering Levi was just in and saw that. He untangled himself from Eren, trying to not wake him then left to get some clothes. He walked out to the laundry room and grabbed a large grey hoodie and a t-shirt, as well as plain black jeans. He grabbed some underwear and socks then got changed in the bathroom.
When he came back into the bedroom Eren was already dressed, wearing a black shirt. Jean loved it, how cute and formal Eren looked. He coughed, getting Eren's attention. The brunette turned round, a small smile on his face. "Alright let's go." He said walking out, being quite hungry. Jean followed him, a small blush on his face. "Uh Eren?" He called, catching up with Eren.
"Sorry if I kept you up last night... and I'm sorry I got upset. I just wanted to get it off my chest, y'know." Jean admitted, staring at Eren. He waved Jean off and smiled. "It's okay, honestly. I didn't mind." Eren replied, before coming to a hault when the breakfast table got into view. He sighed, seeing the girl who was being rude to him yesterday. He continued to walk again, his head hung.
They both took a seat at the table, looking at the bowls and plates on it. There was bacon again, as well as some eggs and some bread. Eren took a bit of each while Jean ate a lot of eggs. He noticed Jean give Ymir a lot of glares and sighed, rolling his eyes slightly. Ymir was talking to Krista, while Sasha and Connie were arguing over a piece of egg. He smiled a little, liking the atmosphere. It was very friendly and welcoming. Until Ymir broke the comfortable silence.
"Jean is it true you and Eren snuck out last night?" She asked with a slight smile. Eren sighed while Jean scowled. "Yeah Ymir we did, now leave us to eat our food." Jean snapped defensively. Ymir rolled her eyes and went back to having her food, leaving an angry Jean and an embarrassed Eren. The brunette was about to tell Jean that it was okay and that he didn't mind but he was interrupted by Levi walking to their table.
"Oi Jean and dumb brat? Get ready, we are going back out today." Levi commanded, glaring at Eren. The young teen gulped and nodded, wondering where they would be going today. He remembered how last time didn't go too well. He fidgeted in his seat, nervously looking up at Jean who simply nodded.
Jean stood up and inhaled deeply, smelling the fresh air around them. He smiled, it was his coping technique. To just stop and breathe, it was as if time stopped for just a small moment. He looked down at Eren and flashed him a smile.
"C'mon, lets go grab our bags."
